Dangerous animals

Pitbulls and Rotweillers are the only dangerous animals over here. And their "owners" per se.

Thankfully, I live in a country with a distinct lack of dangerous wild animals. I guess there are some borrelia-carrying ticks up in the New Forest, and adders are venomous, but that's about all I can think of.

The closest I've ever been to anything dangerous in England is back in prep school when we found an adder at the bottom of a wooded ditch at the end of the playing fields. I stayed well away up at the top of the ditch, but a couple of friends decided to go down and prod it. Smart kids.

(they were lucky in that someone else grassed them up to the teacher (spoilsport!) and she shouted at them to come away & leave the snake well alone!)

I live in the western part of Virginia. We have black bears, rattlesnakes, copperheads, and some spiders that can cause some real problems. I don't actually consider them a threat to humans because most attacks around here (which are extremely rare) are the fault of the people not being aware of their surroundings while hiking, etc.

Rabid Hedgehogs!

The thought is too terrifying to even contemplate.

Bears, cougars (mountain lions), rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, scorpions, elk, moose and, of course, the dreaded Bigfoot!
