Daedalus/Hyperion Class Reimagined

Never been thrilled with the Daedalus class nor many of the conjectural and non canon ships of the 2160s to 2220s. Here I take a stab at something for this era. No spherical primary hull. I did like the Hyperion secondary hull though.

USS Hyperion was originally designed by Trek BBS member Paul Cargile (a long time ago!), and then adapted by me into a 4-view blueprint for my Starfleet Museum site (also a long time ago, but not nearly as long).

The main issue I had with it was trying to make what appeared to be a transitional primary hull form from the spherical Daedalus to the later saucer. The result was something that didn't seem satisfying to me, especially on the underside. It does have good features too though. I think a retconned Daedalus could use that secondary hull.

Wonder if anyone has copies of Paul's art still :)

New nacelles and deflector. Both are more in line with the 2270s than the 2190s, which I think was the original Hyperion debut. But maybe this is a descendant of that design now. Decided to evolve this thing.

Still liking this project!

Thank you! One problem that I have, among others, is continuously starting new projects as the inspiration hits me, and then they all lay dormant when the next idea hits. I just went through old laptops from 8-10 years ago and got old files off of there. Dozens and dozens of unfinished ships, story and script ideas, etc. Crazy. Story of my life. Anyway, trying to change course and stay on some of these to get them to a more finished state.

Incidentally, the saucer section actually started off as a non-Trek universe flying saucer. I was reminded of that when I recovered the much older versions of this.

That is not a problem, unless you are being commissioned for something that is...lol
Take it from someone who is overly prolific, "Keep working on any and all ideas...that is what is important: the idea(s), not the finished piece."
