D-Day

Candlelight

Admiral
Admiral
66 years ago today.

Just been watching The Pacific so fresh in my mind.

Not that D-Day was near the Pacific Ocean or anything...

What did you think of the Pacific? I was a bit underwhelmed by the story, considering the people putting it together and the budget they had, though I suppose that it was the story they had in hand and, to their credit, they weren't going to mangle it and make stuff up just to make it more Hollywood.

I didn't like the pseudo-documentary style of Pacific, maybe they should have fictionalised the story a little bit more. The great thing about Band of Brothers was that there was continuity and character development, which really lacked in Pacific imo, also the acting was much weaker.

I hear you. Especially odd was that aside from the pipe-smoking Marine, they didn't finish with the same characters they started with, and it seemed that they only added his role in the beginning because they knew they were going to finish on it.

Leckie was in it at the start and the end. he just disappeared for 2 episodes after he got medevaced back home.

's me dad's birthday. he's 68 though.
