Cyber bullying and New Voyages Moderator?

After joining this board in the past week to join discussion and to provide a different view point on the CBS matters involving fan productions, I have now received a threatening private message from the moderator of the CBS v Axanar thread.

Asking questions regarding the timing of news reports, the timing of speculation by uninformed "reporters", and the timing of interviews is "trolling" according to him. Asking these questions was reasonable given the fact that a different fan film than the moderators was engaged in a major IndieGoGo campaign. That other fan film was subjected to speculation by members of the moderator's fan film production group. The speculation included the possibility that all fan films were being called, cancelled, or threatened by CBS.

The speculation was wrong. It was in error. NO person from CBS called Star Trek Continues or any other fan film listed in the Fan Film lists, apparently including New Voyages. So, why would people associated with prior New Voyages productions speculate on a widespread and broad shutdown on all fan films???

I have been asking this question for three days and yet the response in the thread was that I was trolling and a homophobe. Instead of the moderator protecting the thread from misbehavior, the moderator sends me a message informing me that he "would take action" against me. I am not the problem sir. It is your moderation skills and your own logic that appears to be missing. When a victim of cyber bullying speaks out, it is the moderators responsibility to take disciplinary action against the parties doing the bullying.

Calling a person a homophobe is indeed defamatory.

In fact, if the moderators here at TrekBBS really want respect among the Star Trek fan base, when a person gets subjected to cyber-bullying, disinformation tactics, and abuse, you would think the moderator of the discussion would apologize. Taking a quote from SNL of yesteryear, "But nooooooooo".

This moderator would rather send me an argument that disputes my call for fan films to be "family friendly", dispute my analysis of American Academy of Pediatrics media exposure guidelines, and disputes my call on my suggestion to CBS as a shareholder of CBS and Viacom to maintain Star Trek properties as a "family friendly" production and atmosphere. This moderator would rather dispute my opinion and argues that I "am misunderstanding" and that it is appropriate for children to see scenes of two males kissing and of blood worms killing people. Newsflash Mr. Moderator - graphic violence and sexual content is NOT appropriate viewing for children. That is the reason I posted the link to the American Academy of Pediatrics media guidance documents to the thread from which you are threatening to take action against me as a "troll".

Bloody violence and sexual content may fit the definition of "family friendly" and "appropriate for all ages" to the producers of one fan film but excuse me if I differ. Is this difference of opinion sufficient to cause a "ban" on me as a "Troll"... Apparently so. And, there is no apology from this group.

The definition of "family friendly" by this group of professional film makers may fit their own interests but as a popular radio psychologist says, "I am my son's dad." And, my infant son will not be exposed to gory violence, sexual content, or other adult themes until he is good and ready. Due to the opinions expressed in this board, I am not willing to suggest or support Star Trek: New Voyages, Star Trek: Phase Two, or any other derivative productions of the same cadre of professional film makers.

There is no apology from these people while they throw insults, cyber-bully, and accuse me of being a "homophobe". I risked my life on the staff of a major California hospital in the early 1990's to treat homosexual males who were dying of AIDS. At the time, nobody knew the cause of the disease except that you could contract it and die. These patients had no treatment available, were covered in black Kaposi's Sarcoma lesions, were blind from the advancement of the virus, were emaciated and were dying of AIDS before HIV was isolated and known. In fact, my medical experience involves direct training in the early 1980's from the doctor in Los Angeles who was the very first doctor in the world to identify the original cluster of AIDS cases in the West Hollywood area. I find the accusation to be irresponsible, rude and defamatory.

Since the "moderator" has threatened to ban me from their thread, I thought I would open up a new thread to test the openness of this "TrekBBS". If the moderators of the site delete this message, it will say all about their level of candor, responsibility, and conduct. If the moderators leave the message up, it will also speak to the openness of discussion and the willingness to examine aberrant cyber-bullying behavior on this board.

And, to the "moderator" who insists on taking action against me for my questions and views, your message just clarifies the reasons that your production does not deserve to be labelled "Star Trek".

Goodnight all... live long and prosper!

As a point of clarification, my Moderator warning to bonesmccoy2014 really had nothing to do with his views on the CBS/Axanar issue. It had nothing to do with his position on sexual/violence content in the media per se. It had nothing to do with him "asking questions regarding the timing of news reports, the timing of speculation by uninformed 'reporters,' and the timing of interviews." The poster was informed that the sole reason for the "trolling" warning was in response to other members complaining about posts that were off-topic and disruptive. Although he describes my message as a "threatening messsge," I'm not sure what I could have said to make it any *less* threatening. My "trolling" warning to him consisted of this message (repeoduced here in its entirety):

"This [Axanar] thread has been relatively well-mannered for 800 pages now. Since you began weighing in, your posts have changed the focus of this thread from the subject as indicated in the thread's title to, well, your posts.

Please join the discussion without becoming the discussion."

No further actions against this board member were contemplated or threatened because of his questions or views. Warning was purely for being off the topic of the thread in particular and of the Fan Production forum in general. Poster has not been "banned."

Lastly, of course, leaving the poster's message up "speaks to the openness of the discussion and the willingness to examine aberrant cyber-bullying behavior on this board."
