Cute Animals Popular on BBC News...

It's amazing how Human like that baby Gorilla is and it seems just so hard to believe there are people out there hunting these animals. :(

^I know. I saw a video once where some poachers killed this entire troop of gorillas to kidnap their babies in order to sell them for god knows what reason. The adult gorillas were screaming and howling, the babies were screaming, they were pulling wailing baby gorillas out of the clutches of their dead mothers. It was almost as terrible as any human scene I've witnessed. I couldn't watch it all, it was horrible.

Oh, that's absolutely horrible, who would dare attack and destroy wonderful human like animals like that?! :(

Even the adult male gorillas are cute, in the sense they're playful and somewhat childlike in spite of their brutish strength and appearance.

The pygmy hippo story is a good one. They are doing well breeding in captivity (in the UK at least). My OH is a diver and they had a contract to clean the big underwater glass windows at Edinburgh Zoo penguin enclosure. I went along and wandered around. The pygmy hippos had just had a baby and it was adorable. They really do wiggle their ears incredibly quickly (like in Disney animations).

Those are great videos. :bolian:

The slaughter of gorillas by rebels and terrorists is, unfortunately, a huge problem in Africa. :(

In the totally fucked up region of the Congo, big money can be found butchering these adorable gentle giants with their rich fur and broad hands, while baby gorillas are sweet little things that you couldn't put down if you were holding them, so the idiot poachers would try to sell them as exotic pets (baby orangutans are very cute as well and East Asian hicks try to domesticate or flog them for the same reasons).
