Hey guys,

Been working on this one on and off. Thought I would get impressions as it currently stands. The major forms of the ship are pretty much there except in regards to the engines. I was going for a feel similar to this, http://jepray.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=72#/d3bg4jw, by Jepray. I was going to rationalize the engine arrangement as Starfleet's work on a Coaxial warp drive. I am having problems coming up with a muscular look that still evokes Starfleet aesthetics.

As far as the main hull of the ship you can probably see the motorcycle influence with the exposed frame that the secondary and primary hull rest on. Overall form has un-intendedly reminded me of the Intrepid class, which is funny considering it's not a favorite of mine.

No detailing as of yet that would indicate scale, I am fluctuating between either about 20 decks or about 10. In other words close to Intrepid or close to Nova in size.

So, tell me what you think or any suggestions.:)

Hmmm ... it isn't a sleek ship, but its homeliness gives it quite a bit of character. You see the Intrepid, and I agree that's obvious, but I also think it looks vaguely Klingon ... like someone at Starfleet tried to incorporate some of their ideas. I'm curious about why (in-world, not the motorcycle reference) the warp nacelle pylons sweep forward and eventually become the prow; that's a neat concept and an additional hull element that isn't present in Star Trek ships.

I don't want to make suggestions for your ship, but I'd like to see that notch on the top of the ship deepened a little and the bridge slid back into it such that only its upper sensor dome peeks out above it.

This design reminds me a little of the recent thread on the Aquila.

Each of these two designs seems to have something the other lacks.

I like how the Aquila's hulls are sleeker, and the pylons give it a more graceful, bird-like look.

I like how Sojourner arranged the hulls more like a traditional, Connie-style starship.

Now, if we could just get a little of the Aquila's chocolate in Sojourner's peanut butter...

Hey, it is I, Jepray, The Akinakes lends a nice look. I would think it would look better if you mounted the Nacelles farther back on the pylons, so most of the length is back, letting the hull look even more stretched or ideal of speed...
can you kinda smush the deflector dish and widen the bottom? so the lower half of the emitter hull housing would over lap the two side hull sections shown under the saucer section? the closest image i can think of is an upside down mushroom, if that makes any sense... leave me a note if you need an image of what im talking about...

If I was looking to give it some heft and character I'd alter the proportions slightly. If the ship was wider it might have some more of the Fed look to compliment the layout.

anyone else getting a sort of battlestar vibe off this thing?

maybe pylon things swept back a bit for more swoosh?

The proper shading will handle that. I thought TIE Interceptor from the nacelles myself. That subtle cue reduces the size from battlestar to Fed-starship

Reminds me a bit of the old Apache class. It has a good side view. The neck allows it a taller stance--I can easily see a TOS music accompanied entrance from screen right of this design...
