CSI: Star Trek

The CSI episode that reveals two members of the "B team" (not the main characters) are Trek fans (actually fans of "Astral Quest") was rerun tonight.

They had one of the characters repeatedly day dream about himself in scenes from the original series. Because they didn't make it a true Trek connection (calling it by a different name) they didn't play the scenes exactly, but they sure got real close. It was funny realizing how quickly I knew which episode they were drawing from, even which scene.

I'm watching it right now on DVR delay, and the guy just imagined himself in the Orion girl scene from THE CAGE. Problem is he was working at the time, and just set his desk on fire due to day dreaming.

This is a keeper. I'm gonna burn it to disc.

Did anyone else here see it, either this repeat or the original airing? If so, what did you think? Comments about how close the sets and costumes looked like Trek, etc.?

I saw it tonight and when it first ran (anybody else catch Ron Moore's cameo?).

My suspicion is that this episode started off as a straight Star Trek riff and Paramount put the kibosh on it, forcing things to be changed enough to satisfy the happy folks over on Melrose. The parallels are just too close in the episode references, and even the cause of death would work just as well on the TOS Enterprise bridge as on the version they had.

Might also have been a matter of recreating the TOS sets, but I suspect it was somebody saying "you can't do that to our valuable property which is about to have a major blockbuster movie coming out." Remember, it aired shortly before JJ's abomination opened.

Saw it in first run and laughed myself silly. 'twas obviously written by "one of us."

And again I say, Liz Vassey is simpley stunning normally, but in the Trekkish miniskirt uniform with her hair down, she took my breath away!

Yeah, I saw it too and, whilst it was funny in places, it was a terrible example of a CSI episode...

I missed this the first time it was shown, but happily saw it was airing while I was recording Big Brother, so I kept the recorder going. I only saw the opening segment but it was cool when the guy flipped open his cell phone and said "he's dead, Jim."

I look forward to watching the entire episode when I can.

I loved it first time round - sorry to have missed it second time . .
