Creating a new TV series

The challenge with creating a new Trek show is (1) doing something fresh and interesting while (2) also staying faithful to Rodenberry's vision and making sure it "feels" like star trek.

We've seen shows set on space stations, shows about lost ships, shows about exploration, and shows about the "birth" of starfleet. How about a show that maintains a continuous storyline throughout each season, similar to the show "24"?

For example, season one could be about some mysterious threat to the galaxy, or a conspiracy to overthrow the Federation or something. The main plot would focus on our heroes (a new ship and crew, perhaps the Enterprise-F) dealing with this problem throughout the entire season, with each episode ending in a cliffhanger to keep the viewers coming back for more. For season two, they could carry over some of the sub plots, but come up with a new threat to be the focal point of the series.

An idea I've mentioned in the past would be a Star Trek Anthology. Have short story arcs - 2-4 episodes long. They could focus on all different aspects of the Trek universe (colonization, academy, civilian issues, Klingon episodes, Vulcans, different casts and different time eras.) I think it would keep it fresh and interesting. Change of casts frequently would mean that they wouldn't have a real set of "stars" so salaries, and therefore budgets could be lower. Or more money could be spent on production values, and not just huge salaries. They could even have those occasional episodes with Sulu, or Riker, or O'Brien or whoever.
I know. There are probably a million reasons why this wouldn't be practical. Still, it would be cool, IMHO.
