A post in another thread gave me this idea. What you choose if you could come up with 12 books to fill the slots for 2011?

My choices:

Enterprise: The Romulan War, Book 2
Enterprise: The Anthology
TOS: Ex Machina Sequel
Vanguard, Book 6
TNG: Pre-ATT Enterprise E Novel
TNG: Post Typhon Pact Novel
DS9: The "4-Year-Gap" Anthology
DS9: Post Typhon Pact Novel
VOY: Post Unworthy Novel
Titan: Post Typhon Pact Novel
Aventine: Post Typhon Pact Novel
Tales of Destiny Anthology

ETA: Yes, I misspelled "schedule". :p

Not a bad list. You could free up 3 spots by turning your Anthologies into TPBs and then add a NF, another Voyager, and since it's Enterprise's anniversary year another one of those too.

Who says he wants NF on the list? ;)

BTW, what counts as a trade paperback with Pocket? I've always seen that name used for mass-market paperbacks...so I'm kinda confused. How is a TPB different from an anthology (which I THINK is like Myriad Universes) or omnibus (like Twist of Faith?)?

A trade paperback, essentially, is any paperback that's not the "standard" size. Most anthologies, Trek included, are trade paperbacks, as are larger books like the various tech manuals and so forth. The latest NF novel, Treason, as well as the recent Enterprise novel The Romulan War also were trade paperbacks.

If it were up to me, we'd get at least 2 more Voyager books and an enormous epic DS9 trilogy that didn't take place during the gap, but covered anything we'd need to know, and wrapped up / moved to the next stage all of the lingering plot threads from Marco's plans. As well as, of course, Vanguard 6.

The rest of the schedule isn't as important to me as those... but I'm thinking that Vanguard 6 is probably a go, but neither of the others is particularly likely. I'm predicting 1 each for VOY and DS9 relaunches, an emphasis on ENT and other standalone material, and at least 2 more Abramsverse books.

And a trade paperback usually has a cover price about double that of a mass market: Trek trades have been list-priced at $15 or $16 for the last few years; mass markets are still priced at $7.99.

I'm not complaining, just stating the facts. Interestingly, online retailers such as Amazon usually discount trade paperbacks pretty steeply, and don't discount mass market paperbacks at all, so the difference in price usually ends up being around $3.

2011 predictions: a second round of Abramsverse books is probably already in the pipeline, and if the first 4 sell significantly better than the typical Trek title, they'll add more as fast as they can be written. The rest of 2011 will include another Romulan War trade paperback, and maybe a MMPB reprint of Beneath the Raptor's Wing. The rest of the slots will be taken up with new TNG, Titan, DS9, Voyager and Vanguard titles, a second STO title if the game is a huge smash, a TOS novel, and something that Pocket will come up with that I can't even guess at yet -- perhaps an all-new Mirror Universe novel. That would be cool.

And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the return of COE in trade paperback. Personally, I'd take that over a new anthology. I needs me some more COE in dead-tree format!

If, as now seems likely, the next movie comes out in 2012, then I predict we'll see more Abramsverse titles timed to coincide with that as well -- and another novelization, this time in hardcover (if Pocket can get Abrams to hand over the script in time.) The rest of the 2012 schedule will depend on what happens over the next 12-18 months, sales-wise. Hopefully it will include the dead tree version of Slings and Arrows for TNG's 25th anniversary.

If I were doing it, only one book would be released:

Badassery and the Chicks Who Love It: An Autobiography
by Captain Robau

More like: How Supposedly Being a Badass Didn't Save My Slow Ass From Getting Pwned By A Villian Who Made Shinzon Look Cool (Whoever the Hell Shinzon Is), by Captain Robau.

I can only respond with this:

No image. I get the borders of the alleged image, but it's an empty box with one of those little red "x" thingees in the corner.:(

Enterprise: The Romulan War, Book 2
Enterprise: The Romulan War, Book 3
Enterprise: Damage Followup Novel
Enterprise: Anthology
Voyager: Post-Unworthy Novel
Voyager: Post Unworthy Novel
Vanguard #6
Vanguard #7
DS9-R Novel
DS9-R Novel
Titan: Post Typhon-Pact Novel
TNG-R: Post Typhon-Pact Novel

Enterprise: The Romulan War book 2
DS9 Anthology to fill in the 5 missing years
TNG-Relaunch novel
Voyager-Relaunch novel
Mirror Universe anthology
Myriad Universe anthology (Both of these the 3-story type of anthology)
Enterprise: The Romulan War book 3
DS9-Relaunch novel
Voyager-Relaunch novel
Possibly an Aventine book, if the first one is good
DS9-Relaunch novel
Enterprise: The Romulan War book 4 (I'd make it a 5-part series, with the final book in 2012)

Interesting idea!

Corps of Engineers collection
Slings and Arrows, please
Typhon Pact/post-Typhon Pact series TNG follow up
Typhon Pact/post-Typhon Pact series Titan follow up
Typhon Pact/post-Typhon Pact series DS9 follow up
Another DS9 relaunch, either as above or in the gap, depending on what "The Rough beasts of Empire" establishes.
Voyager post-Unworthy book
Another Voyager post-unworthy book
Vanguard 6
Vanguard 7
Enterprise: Romulan War book two

And the most unlikely one of all,

An anthology returning to characters- from any of the modern books and series- whom we've met before but until now didn't know what became of them, or who scream for follow up- give me some closure :). Lost tales or something, someone find a title for me...

I'd like another Klingon Empire book, preferably one that shows the conflict with the Kinshaya and Klag's promotion. I'm also good with the other ideas I'm seeing here, but no one had suggested this yet.
