Create a SciFi Reality Show!

Whether we want it or not, reality shows are here, and it seems they are kicking our science fiction off the air. I say we fight back! Let's create our own Science Fiction Reality show!

"The Airlock" hosted by Mary McDonnell

Your typical reality show where a bunch of random strangers compete for 1st Place through a series of challenges. They live together on a spaceship, and every week the loser of the challenge gets voted off. When they do, Mary McDonnell gives the order: "Put him out the airlock." The doors open, and in proper Leoben style, they get sucked into space.

You know what's funny about this? When I attended the Seatrek Cruise to Alaska in 2007, Claudia Christian was pitching a proposal for a reality show where sci fi fans would have an opportunity to hang out with their favorite SF&F actors (such as having the actors come to the fans' homes on Super Bowl Sunday).
During the cruise she had attendees do videotapes of who they like to see and what they'd like to (and of course, keep it clean ;)). I did the video for her. My "wish" was to be able to visit a set and to see Connor's work behind the scenes.
So far, apparently it has not come to fruition. :(

I am also on a mission to find some way for SciFi fans to have fantasy leagues. My roommate won over $500 last week between all of his Fantasy Football leagues, and I just feel that nerds need their own version!

Take some popular sci-fi characters such as Vader, Picard, and others from different franchises and make them live in a house together. To mix things up, you could even have some fantasy characters like Gandalf and Dumbledore on another team, with the idea of being the last one to survive without being kicked out of the house. You could have Vader and Picard making an alliance to try to kick out others from the other team for instance, all while they're acting like their characters would, with Vader trying to get Picard to join him in doing something devious while Picard trying to use diplomacy.

Didn't they already try something like that with Edge of Never as part of the failed Virtuality pilot?

There was, in my opinion great, british reality show called "Space cadets". It involved really elaborate space shuttle set and old abandoned british military space set up as active russian space port.

It was kind of Big Brother-style setting with livefeeds from shuttle and base, but no one got kicked out of airlock. And it only lasted about a week.

Surprisingly contestants claimed to have believed that they actually flew to space.

Dont know if it would work in USA. I guess it might..

I hate to admit it but if they did a celeb talent/game show with washed-up sci-fi stars I'd probably watch.

All these actors who couldn't find work will come together and produce a scifi miniseries. They would fight over the plot, their roles and the fate of their characters. After every episode, we see the actual episode of their scifi show.
