Could this be suggesting the new series is set in the 26th century?

They’ll attend the Academy’s Career Day in the 26th century

Typo, or are they telling us something?

The 26th century would be a weird date to pick for an event like this, considering the furthest we've gone forward in Trek is the mid-late 24th century, unless the new show is set in the 26th century.

The event is being held during the summer, so we'll likely know more then. You guys think I'm on to something?

They could simply set this experience in the 26th century to avoid fanboy questions like "Why doesn't any of this look like it's supposed to be?", it would also allow them to frame the events of the tv shows as history if they want to, "No, you can't meet Admiral Picard, he died 140 years ago!".

I don't think it has anything to do with the new series, especially because this seems to be a limited thing for the 50th anniversary and would be over before the series starts in 2017.

Could be a typo, but I think it makes sense to go to the 26th century for the next trek. Only one Star Trek went backwards in time and failed.

Didn't star trek com already post the fake poster for the new series? I will need a second confirmation before I think about it but "academy day" doesn't sound promising.

Eh, I highly doubt that, to be quite honest. It feels like you're trying too hard to find reasons other than it being the setting of the new show.

You're right, it could be set in a completely different era, but to set this 'Academy Day Experience' in the 26th century just to avoid "where's Picard?" questions is very unlikely.

Read the article. Academy Day isn't the name of the show, it's the name of some sort of interactive experience in the Intrepid Museum this summer.

That was a fan-made poster attached to some article on the German website, I believe. This is the official worldwide Star Trek page, so unless the guys they're hiring to control the website are super lazy and/or can't read, they probably would have noticed and removed any typos or unconfirmed info by now.

Seems to me like they're framing it as a museum experience on the "history" of Star Trek.
Sort of "oh look you're in the 26th century, see what crazy stuff us Federation people got into a couple of centuries back"

I think a typo would have been fixed by now. It could be set it the future to add the historical museum context but why would I go through an academy to train for something in the past (theoretically speaking of course).

I think you might be onto something since we are likely to find out more details of the new series this summer and that is around the same timeframe this is opening. It would make for some great marketing for the new series.

Yep, not only did they not fix it, they even edited it to make it look more prominent!

Before:
They’ll attend the Academy’s Career Day in the 26th century

After:
Cadets will attend the Academy’s Career Day (in the 26th century!!)

So either:

1. The "Academy career day" actually takes place in the 26th century, or

2. These guys don't know what the hell they're talking about, have never seen Star Trek, and were told that they had a typo but didn't actually know what the typo was so they just added some parentheses and exclamation points.

Either way, there's no indication that this has anything to do with the new show.
