Corp Of Engineers Page counts

I have begun reading the COE books after Whats Past and I noticed a difference in the page counts.
Per Simon and Schuster:
Turn the Page: 103
Trouble Shooting: 544 On this now, seems a lot smaller then that.
The Light: 91
The Art of the Comeback: 288
Signs from Heaven:288
Ghost: 101
Remembrance of Things Past, Book 1: 74
Remembrance of Things Past, Book 2: 624?

Is this right?? As I said, I am on Trouble Shooting and it seems way smaller then 544. Then there is Remembrance of things Past. Really? Book one not even 100 pages while 2 is 644?

Oh and ALL for the same price of $5.99.

Well i just finished Trouble shooting and I counted the pages. I counted 231 pages. So where are the other 313??????

If I were to guess, I'd say... mistake.

All of the SCE/CoE works are strictly novellas, not novels. So, anything listing much more than about 100 pages is likely wrong. Besides, ereaders don't really have "pages" anyway, so any sort of page count is an estimate at best anyway. A typical novella is usually 17,500 to 40,000 words in length.

When I load these books onto my reader, I see the following page counts for each book:

Turn the Page - 101
Troubleshooting - 75
The Light - 84
The Art of the Comeback - 133
Signs from Heaven - 89
Ghost - 95
Remembrance of Things Past I - 66
Remembrance of Things Past II - 86

Again, these are really just rough estimates and all readers will calculate differently. These numbers should be fairly close though.

Just out of the sake of curiosity, I performed a word count on the 8 novellas in question. Here are the stats:

Turn the Page - 29,318 words
Troubleshooting - 23,021 words
The Light - 25,285 words
The Art of the Comeback - 35,561 words
Signs from Heaven - 26,022 words
Ghost - 24,983 words
Remembrance of Things Past I - 24,320 words
Remembrance of Things Past II - 24,848 words

As you can see, these all fall well within, most almost dead center, for the range of pages for a novella.

I feel your pain on the cost though. Below is a list of most of the novella e-books that have come out since the SCE/CoE series ended. I've listed the price and the number of words per volume. As you can see, with the exception of the Typhon Pact novella, most titles are either $3.99, $2.99 or even as low as $1.99. Any of these are much more appropriate prices for novellas but, personally, I feel that $2.99 is the more appropriate price point. I doubt we'll ever see any of the $5.99 ebooks drop in price, but they all really should be dropped to come more in line with the more recent pricing structure. Charging $5.99 for one of these titles really seems like price gouging.

Star Trek: Typhon Pact: The Struggle Within - $5.99 - 24,681 words
Star Trek: Vanguard: In Tempest's Wake - $3.99 - 29,632 words
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Stuff of Dreams - $3.99 - 28,666 words
Star Trek: Titan: Absent Enemies - $1.99 - 26,194 words
Star Trek: The Original Series: Seasons of Light and Darkness - $3.99 - 23,257 words
Star Trek: The Original Series: The More Things Change - $2.99 - 26,344 words
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Lust's Latinum Lost (and Found) - $2.99 - 25,314 words
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Q are Cordially Uninvited - $2.99 - 27,065 words
Star Trek: Department of Temporal Investigations: The Collectors - $2.99 - 34,256 words
Star Trek: The Original Series: Shadow of the Machine - $3.99 - 28,200 words
