I like the implications in this - basically you could let a swarm of drones loose anywhere for pretty much any purpose: carrying injured and/or unconscious people out of danger (burning buildings for instance), cleaning up hazardous materials - or you could have them place things where people can't reach in the same time: putting up cones and lights to re-direct traffic, dropping (medical?) supplies pretty much anywhere.

I saw a video on these quadrotor things not too long ago--but they're doing much more sophisticated stuff here. That's actually really cool! I wonder if it would be feasible to use them for short-range transport. I could see putting some intelligence in them so they basically fly pre-determined routes and carry out programmed tasks without human intervention.

Can you imagine how quickly a hundred of those would scare the shit out of bad guys? Especially if they're armed with machine guns.
