Where do I begin?
Ferris Beuller's Day Off is
sci-fi? Even if it were, the car is a 250GT
California (and, in truth, isn't even that - it's a replica).
Magnum P.I.?
Cadzilla? Is ZZ Top sci-fi? And if so, wouldn't the space shuttle/Eliminator from
Afterburner more accurately fit the bill?
'69 Roadrunner ... from?
Jericho?
"Horrific customized" '58 Fury? The only thing customized about it was the color (in 1958, Furys
only came in Buckskin Beige, with gold trim, but he
did say it was a special order, in the story). And she certainly was 'horrific,' but not because of any customization.
As stated above, though, this poll is useless without THE Batmobile, from the '66 TV series; it set the standard for sci-fi cars, and as big a fan as I am of Syd Mead, and as much as I like the Spinner, even it owes its existence to Lincoln and George Barris.
A couple more notable omissions:
- Gene Winfield's Reactor, which showed up both in Bewitched and as the 'Jupiter 8 in Star Trek's "Bread and Circuses" - we even have photos of Captain Kirk sitting in it
. Now that's cool!
- Not a "car," per se, but a cool vehicle nonetheless, was the Landmaster from Damnation Alley. It was especially cool in the desert
.
- And since some of these cars are clearly from horror and not sci-fi, how can we forget The Car?
From this list, I can only pick Bond's DB5, because Bond is the epitome of 'cool,' Dean Winchester's Impala, and Christine - they're the only cars I could see myself driving (although I probably wouldn't last long in Christine, huh?

)
Was KITT
ever 'cool?'
