Conjecture on Star Trek Four.

Tenacity

Chris Hemsworth's name is attached to a possible fourth movies in the Abrams-universe, and there are strong rumors that the movie would involve time travel.

Is it possible that instead of Hemsworth playing George Kirk, that he would play a older version of James Kirk? It wouldn't be Pine-Kirk traveling in time to meet his father, but rather Hemsworth-Kirk traveling from the future to meet Pine-Kirk.

Possibly adding in Hemsworth-Kirk traveling not just from the future, but crossing over from the Prime-universe?

Hemsworth is three year younger than Pine, but there's make-up.

Any thoughts?

JJ explicitly said it was Kirk meeting his father and them going on an adventure when the film was announced.

My speculation is they're (Payne and McKay) rewriting Bob Orci's basic plot (Federation vs Vulcans vs new aliens in race to get alien time travel artefact) but with George Kirk in place of Kirk-Prime. Meeting his own father would mean a lot more to Pine's Kirk than meeting Old Spock's Shatner version of himself.

Have a feeling that that script might be out the window with a new head a Paramount, etc. We also don't know if JJ still involved or not officially either.

Meyer also said to have a Trek project so maybe the two are connected or not. Time will tell, BUT I strongly feel we will see a Trek 4 with this group. ST too big of a franchise for Paramount

I wouldn't expect to hear too much about it until next year. Even though they're separate, neither CBS or Paramount has anything to gain by creating confusion with Discovery or saturating the market.

I just hope Paramount realizes Trek is one their few somewhat succesful franchises... Beyond was their highest grossing movie of 2016, and their only movie passing 100 million dollars domestically. And now it looks like it will domestically outgross Transformers The Last Knight... If only they can bring the budgets down (190 million is just too much I guess) so the films can be more profitable...

I sincerely hope we get a word on Trek IV soon..!

At this point, the conjecture about ST4 is whether or not it will ever exist... :sigh:

If it ever does make it to filming, though, here's my conjecture:

"Yesterday's Kelvin."

I'd prefer an aged George who was thrown forward in time owing to the fluctuations of the anomaly emerging in the present. IF they have to use George at all (I'd rather they didn't bother but I'm not in charge).
