...looks like you're getting your new stadium!

That looks like it's going to be quite a place. I'm certainly no football fan but even I can see that Candlestick Park sucks - it sure did when the Giants played there, anyway - and needs to be bulldozed to the ground, like yesterday, because it's a run down piece of crap. Plus the Stick is one of the UGLIEST stadiums I've ever seen (it was never meant for football anyway, it was built only for the Giants. When the 49ers came steamrolling in, they expanded the Stick for football, resulting in the Rube Goldberg-like configuration it is in today).

Word is that construction on the new 49ers stadium will start in 2012 and finish in time for the 2014 season.

C'mon how can you say that? In my opinion the players and fans were always pussies. Sports are meant to be played in gale force winds! And so what even if it isn't raining you still come out soaking wet from the fog and the dew. Where's your team spirit? Plus as an added bonus getting to the stadium provided a scenic tour of the Bayview/Hunters' Point area. What do you have in Santa Clara? Sunshine and people with computer money willing to pay for luxury boxes? Bah!

Candlestick Park is still a dump. No sport is meant to be played in a place like that. The place simply SUCKS. Not because of the weather, just the utterly horrible design of the place. It wasn't even BUILT for football, for God's sake. It was "expanded" when the 49ers moved in, and looked like a total kludge after that.

(Angels fans will know what I mean. Angel Stadium looked like that during the 80's. An ugly piece of shit. But thankfully, after the Rams moved out, the additions were all torn down.)

Yeah, Candlestick blows. I haven't been to a ton of NFL stadiums... Lambeau, the Metrodump, and Qualcomm, I believe... and Candlestick might be the worst of that bunch.

Lambeau is of course, by far, the best.

This new stadium looks ok, surely an improvement on Candlestick. I find it hilarious that the flash intro video takes up almost an entire core of my i7 processor in a maximized chrome window (1920x1200).... god I hate flash.

I echo many here in saying that it is about damn time, but nothing beats out Jerry's World at Cowboys Stadium.

Given the fact that Jerry's World is all about Jerry with the Cowboys in the background far away, in fact it shouldn't be called Cowboys Stadium but (In Eddie Murphy's fathers voice from Delirious) "This is MY HOUSE, if you don't like it you can kiss my ass! Stadium" At least the new Niners Stadium is a stadium. Then again watching that video makes me think that is the most useless piece of media that I have seen. All for about three seconds of the stadium at the end. If the Vikings ever get their stadium, it should be five hours of Hallelujah! song over and over and over.
