Is it me or did they airbrush Smith?

God almighty, how do Gareth Roberts and Chris Chibnall keep getting work?

Because people like Moffat keep giving them it?

(It's almost like he doesn't care about the opinion of the handful of people on the Internet who don't like them!)

(It's almost like he doesn't care about the opinion of the handful of people on the Internet who don't like them!)

Yes, because the first two seasons of Torchwood, "The Shakespeare Code," "The Unicorn and the Wasp," "Planet of the Dead" and "42" were so excellent.

From the new DWM:

3 Mark Gatiss - WW2 Daleks

All good news. It feels like we already know virtually the entire plot of the Gatiss episode...

4+5 Steven Moffat - River Song/Weeping Angels

Not that keen on the return of the angels, simply because I'd prefer them as a classic "one-off" monster like the Zygons, but I trust Moffat and am looking forward to seeing what he does with them. River Song I can take or leave.

6 Toby Whithouse - Vampires in Venice

Long overdue a return after School Reunion, another one to look forward to.

7 Gareth Roberts - Amy/Doctor Lite?

Good news as well - Roberts writes lovely, fluffy stories that shouldn't be taken too seriously, and has introduced a whole new generation to the joys of Shakespeare.

8+9 Chris Chibnall - 'New' Silurians+Sea Devils

Oh. Damn. The big disappointment. Have really been looking forward to the return of the Sils/SDs... but Chibnall? Sigh.

10 Richard Curtis - VanGogh
11 Simon Nye - Doctor/Amy Lite?

Great stuff, two new writers, and I can't wait to see what they do with Who.

12+13 Steven Moffat - ???

Be fascinating to contrast a Moffat season finale with the RTD ones.

In total: lots of promising stuff, with only the Chibnall thing being slightly disappointing.

With the whole season layed out like that, it makes me kind of sad BBC makes 13 episode seasons.

"I'M Still HUNGRY..........for more Doctor WHO"

I've seen a few other reports that have said that the Cybermen are the villains in the season finale.

It'd be nice if they were Mondas Cybermen, as opposed to DELETE DELETE DELETE, but I'm not holding my breath.

I should stop reading all those spoilers. What's 'Amy/Doctor Lite" supposed to mean?
Is that an episode where the two of them don't show up that much, like 'Love and Monsters' or 'Blink'? And if so, are there supposed to be two episodes like that or just one?

Like "Midnight" and "Turn Left" two episodes shot at the same time in one of which the Doctor barely appears and the other the Companion barely appears.

Yes, because the first two seasons of Torchwood, "The Shakespeare Code," "The Unicorn and the Wasp," "Planet of the Dead" and "42" were so excellent.

"The Unicorn and the Wasp" is indeed excellent as were many episodes of TW S2.

As I recall, the BBC was so impressed with the production staff's ability to do 14 episodes (including the Christmas special) on a 13-episode budget in 2005 that there was something of a budget reduction in subsequent seasons. As a result, every year has now had an episode with only a few appearances from the Doctor and his companion, to save money.

You're insane. Roberts actually seemed to think he'd written something as clever as an Agatha Christie murder mystery. He didn't seem to appreciate that the only resemblances were cosmetic and there was no possible logic to work out who the killer / giant fucking wasp was. That episode sits right next to "Love & Monsters" and "Fear Her" as the only episodes of nuWho that I will never, ever watch again. ("The Shakespeare Code" isn't far behind ... I've never actually fallen asleep during an episode of Doctor Who before.)

"Love & Monsters" is also excellent.

Yeah. After all the waiting and anticipation, it kinda sucks that we're going to get such a pitifully small number of episodes.

"Love & Monsters" is also excellent.

So excellent that when BBC America did its marathon of David Tennant's run as the Doctor leading up to "The End of Time, Part II," that and "Fear Her" were the only episodes excluded.

Seems to me that someone else thinks that episode was utter shit. Or maybe you'd like more jokes about living concrete slabs giving blowjobs?

Yeah those weren't the strongest episodes. But still, they had their moments, and were diverting enough. I don't need or expect every episode to be a Blink or Empty Child.

And come on, nothing they've done has been as dull or unwatchable as some of VOY or ENT's worst episodes. lol

Basically their version of a clip show required episode to save money.
