ConDFW - Anyone going?

Are any Trek authors planning on attending the ConDFW this weekend in Dallas?

What about local Trekkers, Trekkies, etc? I'm hoping to convince my wife we can spare the money - because I would love to meet Jack McDevitt, one of the guests of honor this year.

I am not an author. Although I have been to the sci fi expo in Plano a couple of times I am not a big Con guy. I had not heard of this one. I checked out the website and I will pass. I do not recognize any authors except McDevitt and I have only read a couple of his books.

Damn! Tim Powers is gonna be there. Wish I'd made plans to go!

Powers's book On Stranger Tides was heavily "homaged" (i.e., ripped off) by the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Rights to the book were eventually purchased by Disney. The forthcoming PotC: On Stranger Tides is "suggested" by Tim's book.

Oh, he's also the greatest living fantasy writer working in the English language. Just sayin'.
