For the past 18 years the music of Star Trek as a TV series has been overwhelmingly Dennis McCarthy. At his current age of 64 I have some doubts of him keeping up with the pace of a TV series possibly starting in the next 24-36 months. Who do you think Paramount/CBS will choose to write the music cues in the 6th series?
What style of music would you prefer for season 6's music?
Hey guys can we please keep the title theme song out of this discussion?
I myself would hate to see anything like the style of music used in Defying Gravity or Greys's Anatomy used in Trek. Continue the use of brass like Trek has had but possibly some hints of TOS music? Maybe play on some themes for certain alien races we've seen in TOS episodes?
As a weekly watcher of Voyager I was used to its music cues which some have lamented as the producer's droning wall of noise...
Keep in mind while Enterprise had a 5.1 sound mix many viewers did not watch in 5.1 surround. By the time series 6 rolls around many more casual watchers and Trek fans will have a 5.1 sound system set up and can hear the music mix a lot better especially with a subwoofer.
