Complete list of books, ALso a Spoiler or two about Destiny

I just finished the Destiny Trilogy and after reading a few posts here, I realize that I may be mising ALOT of other books. I know I don't really need to read everything but it would be nice to see who somethings happend, like Ezri getting her command and What happed with Voyagers crew, for example Paris becoming a LTCmdr and Chakotay getting captain. So my Question is, is there a complete list of books for all series?

I'll wait for KRAD to produce a list of Destiny tie-ins, if he hasn't one on standby already. To the more specific points: as far as Ezri's promotion goes, what you have in Destiny is what you get. The Deep Space Nine line in a few years behind, and while it may eventually cover that ground, it'll be a while yet. As for Paris and Chakotay, their promotions and postings came about during the Voyager relaunch books, Homecoming, Farther Shore and the Spirit Walk duology, so you can check those out provided you have an elevated pain threshold.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

You've read all three Desiny books? I didn't think the third one would be out until next month.
As for a list of books, one of the best places I can think of is Memory Beta, although that has seperate lists for each series. As for Ezri getting her command, that hasn't happened before Destiny, the last we saw of Ezri before that she was a Lt. Cmdr. and XO of the Defiant. As for Chakotay becoming Captain and Tom becoming a Lt. Cmdr. that was all covered in the Voyager relaunch, which so far consists of Homecoming, The Farther Shore, Spirit Walk Book 1: Spirit Walk, and Book 2: Enemy of My Enemy. I haven't actually read the VGR R so I'm not sure what happens in what book.
EDT: There is also going to be a 5th VGRR book that will cover the three years between Enemy of My Enemy and Destiny, and then move forward from the end of the last Destiny book.

I realized my mistake about reading the entire trilogy but was unable to edit it before I got a response do to a computer issue where I am right now, sorry. But thanks for the info. I thought i read though that Fearfull Symetry described how Ezri got her command.

Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint Trent......

You don't need to read anything to follow Destiny, as Dave fills stuff in. And, as others have said, you know everything there is to know about Captain Ezri Dax. :)

But here are some books that can be read as background for what happens in Destiny.....

For a previous adventure of Captain Erika Hernandez and the Columbia (NX-02), see the ENT novel Kobayashi Maru by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin.

For the post-finale setup of the Starship Voyager (including the promotions of Chakotay and Paris, among other things), check out the following VOY novels by Christie Golden:

  • Homecoming
    The Farther Shore
    Spirit Walk: Old Wounds
Spirit Walk: Enemy of My Enemy

For the pre-Nemesis setup of TNG, including a goodly amount with Christine Vale, now Titan's first officer, check out the A Time to... series:

  • A Time to Be Born by John Vornholt
A Time to Die by John Vornholt
A Time to Sow by Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore
A Time to Harvest by Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore
A Time to Love by Robert Greenberger
A Time to Hate by Robert Greenberger
A Time to Kill by David Mack
A Time to Heal by David Mack
A Time for War, a Time for Peace by Keith R.A. DeCandido

That last book also introduced Nan Bacco, and shows her election to the presidency. Her first year in office was chronicled in the novel Articles of the Federation by Keith R.A. DeCandido (those two novels also introduced many of her staff seen in Destiny).

Moving on to the post-Nemesis stuff, we have the TNG books that give us the new status quo on the Enterprise-E following Data's death and the moving of Riker, Troi, Vale, Ogawa, et al to Titan, and also setting up the Borg threat in Destiny:

  • Death in Winter by Michael Jan Friedman
    Resistance by J.M. Dillard
    Q & A by Keith R.A. DeCandido
    Before Dishonor by Peter David
Greater than the Sum by Christopher L. Bennett

Finally, we have the adventures of the good ship Titan that lead up to their appearance in Destiny:

  • Taking Wing by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
The Red King by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
Orion's Hounds by Christopher L. Bennett
Sword of Damocles by Geoffrey Thorne

So, if someone who has followed all the series and movies and has read a few of the older books but nothing new since Voyager went off the air, would those books you listed be a good starting point to jump into reading Star Trek again?

Thanks.

Certainly, although you might also want to check out The DS9 Relaunch.

These books take place 4 years before Destiny, so they don't really have anything to do with what is going on in the trilogy, but alot of the events that led to Ezri becoming a captain first started in these books. They also introduce her first officer, cheif engineer, and cheif medical officer.

Certainly, although you might also want to check out The DS9 Relaunch.
Thanks! I will definitely take a look at these! While I am here, is there a place where one can "subscribe" to get notified of new books to be released? I see the sticky about Oct/Nov releases but just wondering if there was any sort of RSS feed or something in case real life makes me forget to visit this site for awhile.

Thanks again.

I think you can subscribe to a newsletter over at the official Star Trek books site of Simon & Schuster (www.startrekbooks.com), but I'm not sure how reliable/up-to-date the newsletter is and what exactly it contains.

There's also Memory Beta, which has lists for (planned) releases in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The newsletter is pretty good about telling you what is out and what is coming up.

Cool. The DS9R was sort of the begginning of the current era of Trek lit (I think), it was the first series of post-finale books, and seems, to me at least, to be where we started to really get a consistant TrekLit universe.

Thanks again for the help. The 2 local used bookstores got me about half of the books and for only $40 which was an added bonus! I am off to reading so I can understand half of what people are talking about in this forum. :bolian:

Thanks KRAD. That's a pretty big reading list though. Can you advise, if you had to pick 2 or 3 titles that are absolutely critical to understanding Destiny, which would they be? Outside of Kobayashi Maru, which I've already read.

None of them are critical. Dave fills you in on what you need to know.

None are critical, but Greater Than The Sum is the most direct lead-in. Of the Titan books non tie-in directly but it's worth reading one to get your head around the crew. Either Taking Wing (the first one) which introduces everyone or Sword of Damocles, the most recent one.

Then maybe Articles of the Federation to familiarise yourself with those characters?
