Community's "Modern Warfare" References.

Okay, in case ya'll missed it last night NBC's Community aired its action parody episode "Modern Warfare". In my opinion the best episode so far in an exceptionally strong series.

If you missed it, or don't watch Community you can watch it at Hulu. http://www.hulu.com/watch/147571/community-modern-warfare and a couple other places legally.

The episode crams more action movie and pop culture references into its 22 minutes than anything else I have ever seen. But I am curious what references I missed, I know there were a bunch.

What I did notice...

Die Hard, tons of references
Predator, Chang's laugh was hilarious
28 Days Later, 1 Hour Later
Terminator, "Come with me..." and the sex scene
The Warriors, "Come out and play."
Rambo II, the office part at the end

So what did I miss?

Chow Yun Fat- Hardboiled

Chang doing the Chow Yun Fat two guns maneuver and then the chinese music. I loved that part and the predator part was awesome.

Oh man, did I love this episode. Senor Chang is just phenomenal. (I love his brother, Rabbi Chang, too!)

As for references, I don't recall catching any that haven't already been mentioned.

I like the show but this was far and away the most hilarious thing they've ever done. It even worked as an action movie!

lots of references to Glee.
Annie popping out of the trash can reminded me of "Gotcha" (the only part of that movie i've seen)
2 golden guns is a reference to Face/Off

i know there were scenes that i recognized, but i just cant recall from where.

Troy and Jeff's reunion (the music there is awesome)
Shirley's bible bit.

this same topic is being discussed on hulu as well.

I don't normally watch this show because of my work schedule, but I managed to catch this episode the other night while I was hanging out with my friends. We were laughing so hard throughout the whole thing.

I rewatched the episode, and payed more attention to some of the background elements. The music in particular was well done. As already mentioned it copied Lost's style in a scene or two, and I noticed at the end it added in a Christmas feel to beef up the Die Hard parody. Brilliant stuff.

Also the paintballs hitting in mid-air was a direct take off of Wanted.

From the writer:

"All of Donald Glover's lines are my favorite," he laughs, "starting with 'Jeff Winger? You son of a bitch, I thought you were dead.' The horrors of war, for whatever reason, turn Troy into every black guy in every movie John Carpenter movie ever made." (Side note: it was our favorite line, too!)
Donald Glover is always hilarious.

"I want TBD! Is that new?"

This was a magnum opus of an episode. It better win *something*. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

That was a great episode. The best was Senor Chang's Preditor suicide bomb at the end.

That was classic, right down to his maniacal laugh as the bomb counted down. Actually, everything with Senor Chang in that episode was hilarious.

This show is great and seems to just keep getting better. Anyone know if it has been granted a second season?

I don't see how they can ever top this episode, but I can't wait to see them try something crazy in their second season.

This episode was the turning point for the show for me. Going from trying to catch it when I can, to looking forwards to it every week. I wanted to hate it because I hate Chevy Chase, but even he's been great in the show. (My favorite bit, out of many, was probably him trying to psychically read Winger and recoiling in horror at the gayness... all while dressed as the cookie crisp wizard.) So many great moments of the episode. Also having gone to many a community college, priority registration is pretty fucking important.
