Colonel & Mrs Green Review Who, 1963-Present

Colonel Green

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I love review threads. I’ve particularly enjoyed lurking in the many threads started by TheGodBen over the last couple years. Lurking is a bad habit of mine, one I have decided to exorcise by starting a review thread of my very own, ably assisted by my lovely assistant Mrs. Green, who will contribute her own thoughts on a show that we both love at times, and hate at others.

A little personal background: Mrs. Green and I are both Trek fans, grew up on TNG. Mrs. Green’s dad was also a Who fan, so she was exposed to some episodes at a young age. I never saw a full episode of Doctor Who before nuWho premiered. When nuWho hit the screen.... I didn’t like it. I watched a few episodes, but I just couldn’t get into it despite the urgings of my brother and parents, who are all big fans.

It was the end of nuBSG and LOST that led to Mrs. Green and I giving nuWho another shot: at a loss for new sci fi, my brother urged us to give nuWho a second chance. Now we’ve decided to expand our horizons and give Who the attention it deserves by starting at the beginning, with An Unearthly Child (1963). The plan is to watch the first episode tonight and post a review tomorrow.

We will be utilizing an ancient and well-respected rating scale, crafted at the very dawn of time...

* Poor
** Fair
*** Good
**** Very Good
***** Excellent

Thanks for reading; hope you can join us!

That bad, huh? ;)

I, too, once started out with the ambition to wacht all the episodes of the old show from the beginning. I started years ago and have managed to get up to the Tom Baker era. It was incredibly hard to fight through all those missing episodes and I did leave out some of the incomplete serials. Meanwhile I've forgotten a lot so there is a plan to watch it all over again at one point.
