Colin Baker Records Regeneration Story

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

This is so cool. Finally, the Sixth Doctor will have his proper, final adventure.

I still hope the last scene will lead into Time and the Rani, like Spiral Scratch did it, by implying that the Doctor was already regenerating when the Rani started attacking the TARDIS.

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

Pretty good news, although I'm a bit disappointed that Nick Briggs is the writer for the final story. It's just a pity Evelyn will be absent. :(

Someone at GallifreyBase suggested that The Sixth Doctor could experience a regeneration similar to The Fifth's with connections of all of his companions and a clip or two from Evelyn could be slipped in. I really like the idea and I hope something like that is present (and hopefully Frobisher, too).

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

Won't Colin record any additional stories after this one?

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

It's meant by 'final' in that it's the last adventure before he regenerates, not that he's retiring from the audio line.

For example, Caves of Androzani is the final chronological Davison story, but Davison still plays the Doctor in Dimensions In Time, Time Crash and the audio dramas which take place beforehand (Well, with the exception of DIT which is probably noncanonical).

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

Still, it is a misleading title. Perhaps "Colin Baker finally records story leading into his regeneration" would work better?

"Colin Baker Records Regeneration Story."

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

Anyway, here's the titles of the stories.

The End of the Line by Simon Barnard and Paul Morris.
The Doctor and his latest companion Constance investigate a commuter train that has lost its way...

The Red House by Alan Barnes
The Doctor and Charlotte Pollard arrive on a world that is populated by werewolves.

Stage Fright by Matt Fitton
The Doctor and Flip visit Victorian London, where investigators Jago and Litefoot explore theatrical performances that have echoes of the Doctor's past lives...

The Brink of Death by Nicholas Briggs
The Doctor and Mel face the final confrontation with the Valeyard - and the Doctor must make the ultimate sacrifice.

Meanwhile, I'll be listening to Trial of the Valeyard soon, to somewhat compensate for the waiting. Should be interesting.

Though I must admit, I kinda wish they hadn't brough Charley back for this. I always considered her story with Six to be, in a manner of speaking, taking place after the Eighth's run - like, a special "season" where the current companion travels with a younger Doctor.... I'm not sure I'm making sense, but I hope I am.

Anyway, at the very least, we're getting the regeneration story... and it will deal with the Valeyard... I wonder how different (or similar) it will be to Time's Champion, the novel that also had the Sixth regenerate after dealing with the Valeyard.

I believe you've slightly misunderstood the four stories. They're scattered throughout his entire time in Big Finish. Except Evelyn, obviously and unfortunately :(

Makes me wonder if Big Finish would've done a regeneration story for Mcgann at some point, had "Night of the Doctor" and "Day of the Doctor" had not resolved that.

Of course there was originally supposed to be an 8/9th regeneration in the DWM comics but that was of course that was cut out.

Since Big Finish now has all the main actors needed (including one for Chris Cwej) and is already adapting select NAs, I reckon it won't be long now until McCoy's "final" story, Lungbarrow, comes to audio as well.

Reminds me of a fantastic photo story I saw on Twitter last year created from screengrabs which I can't find at the moment but basically did this as sixy's last moments:

Doctor: Peri!

Mel: Who's Peri?

Doctor: The first face this face ever saw...

Peri hallucination: Goodbye rainbow man!

*Doctor strangles Peri*

Re: Colin Baker Records Final Story

Not listened to a Big Finish in a while. I'll be looking out for this one.

I'm glad Colin Baker haso gotten some respect, closure, and his Doctor some rehabilitation over the years.

He seems like a good guy and #6 is one of my favorites
