Coen Bros. Headed to TV

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joel and Ethan Coen are developing a comedy television series with Cedar Rapids writer Phil Johnson.
Fox has given a script plus penalty commitment to Harve Karbo, an hourlong single-camera comedy project [...]

[...] revolves around a touchy Los Angeles private investigator -- and his deadbeat friends in El Segundo -- whose cases frequently force him to cross paths with a who’s who of Hollywood.
Not exactly a move I would've expected, though given David Fincher and A House of Cards, Martin Scorsese and Boardwalk Empire, Michael Mann and Luck, and so on, perhaps it's not all that surprising after all. While I haven't seen every film the Coens have directed, I have yet to see one that I haven't really enjoyed, so I'm definitely interested in this based merely on their involvement.

Too bad the Coens can't come up with something a bit more daring than yet another frakkin' cop show. Disappointing.

Someone really needs to make a show about some other kind of profession. Cops, lawyers, and doctors are getting OLD.

My secret desire is for the Coen brothers to do a movie or TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. Their offbeat sensibility would work perfectly since, like Discworld, most Coen brothers movies feel like they take place in a reality slightly askew from our own, stripped of the usual veneer of sophistication, exposing all of us for the self-centered fools we really are.
