COE - Worth reading past Wildfire, or not?

So. That David Mack. He sure likes to kill everybody.

Is Corps of Engineers worth reading past Wildfire? I've seen a lot of harsh reviews... I like the tech situations and the characters, now I'd like some TrekBBS opinions before I continue.

Thanks.

Yes. It's just as worth reading after as before Wildfire, perhaps even more so. Some of my favorite stories are set in the aftermath of Wildfire, e.g. Heather Jarman's trip to the Nasat home world. Some key interpersonal stuff happens after Wildfire as well, such as the ongoing development of the Corsi-Stevens relationship which I found really well-handled. And some of those post-Wildfire stories are also quite relevant to the larger Treklit canon, e.g. the Vanguard prequel Distant Early Warning.

If you are fond of the tech situations and the characters you'll get more of both. What's not to like?

It is absolutely worth reading past Wildfire. Should you continue, the problem you are going to have is when you are at the end. You are going to want more. I certainly did.

If you think about it's pretty impressive that after 74 monthly/bi-monthly individual novellas and two short stories people are still wanting more. I think that right there says a lot about the quality of those 76 stories.
