Apparently CNN are going to take over Nuts TV's nightly 9pm-1am slot.

From Digital Spy

CNN International will replace Nuts TV on Freeview early next year, Turner Broadcasting has confirmed.

The channel's block of programming aimed at European audiences will air every night between 9pm and 1am. Allocation of a channel number is pending.

"This move to Freeview is an opportunity to introduce CNN's European primetime programming to a new UK audience, at a time when international awareness and understanding of the global news environment has never been so critical," said Nick Wrenn, the London-based managing editor of CNN International for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "Certainly if our international web traffic is anything to go by, the UK's appetite for news has never been more acute, and we look forward to providing TV viewers with the international perspective that the big stories of the day demand."

Turner said that Nuts TV is undergoing an "evolution into a dedicated broadband and mobile service", and noted that availability on Freeview would effectively double CNN's current UK household reach.

Among the programmes to be broadcast in the evening slot are World News Europe and The Situation Room from CNN US.

Well, it's nice to see a shitty "Blokes" channel going the way of the dodo and being replaced with something serious at least.

^I saw your comment and had to look up to make sure the channel in question wasn't Dave!

Expect civil war if they kick that off Freeview. :)

Nah, Dave is fairly decent. Nuts TV on the other hand has gems such as

  • Fit and Fearless - a show which features three fit women spending the night in haunted locations.
  • Rude News - a nightly news bulletin. And...
  • Will Beauty Call? - a show which features where three men fight for the chance to give their phone number to Miss England, Miss Liverpool and Miss Glasgow

this is good news, glad to see a quality channel coming to freeview, and so soon after Discovery decided to launch a channel.

maybe they can expanded up on it, but its still better than having NutsTV in that 4 hour slot.
