This may have been seen by a quite a few of you, but as I've only recently encountered it, I thought I'd share it anyway:

Pity Shatmandu's not around... ;)

Nimoy: "Well I'll be damned, it really was 'excuse me while I kiss this guy.'"

I don't understand what the title of the thread means.

Oh, boy, this is going to be quite the tale. Short version is that we of the TOS Caption Contest crew tend to do a little too much LDS. Strap yourself in for the long version...

Way back in 2007, we had the following picture from season one (can't recall which episode) of TOS in a contest where our own Shatmandu provided the following caption:

classic1.jpg

Rand: "What's your first name, Mr. Spock?"
Spock: "It is unpronounceable to humans."
Rand: "I looked it up. It's 'Carl.' Your name is 'Carl Spock.'"
<Spock puts down stylus and grabs her face.>
Spock: "Forget."
Rand, matter-of-factly: "It is unpronounceable to humans."

A few weeks later we had a picture of Spock greeting the space hippies from "The Way to Eden" (don't have the original handy). Nerys Myk, perhaps inspired by Shatmandu's avatar made from an old Gold Key comic in which Kirk goes under cover and disguises himself with an afro wig, gave us one of the most memorable Photoshops I've ever seen. Someone (can't remember who) combined the two ideas together and thus was born...

True, there have been other caption contest memes, like Running Spock, Pointing Spock, Trigger-Happy Captain Terrell, Grignak the fish-looking coffee asswipe, Vomit the Punk Rocker from The Voyage Home, and Clouds William and Festus, but none have been as memorable and catchy as Carl Spock.

Or, too much LDS.

Okay, but what does "Clean" mean in this context, what is "anors." an abbreviation for, and what is the connection to the photograph? And is it a real photograph?

I didn't get the title either.

Bonz, dense.

(I do remember Carl Spock though. :D)

The thread title frightens and confuses me, so I'll just retcon until it fits.

"There must be some kind of way out of here,"
said Carl Spock to the whores.
"There's too much confusion;
I can't get no anors."

"Clean" may mean "clean-cut," as opposed to Carl's customary 'fro.

"Anor." seems to be an abbreviation used in the British legal system for "another" (see here); I'm guessing that that the added 's' makes it "others" -- in this case, Noel Redding on the left, Jimi Hendrix on the right and some unnamed person at a Cleveland event in 1968.

Ha ha! Agreed! Funny how some people think everyone understands their own interior secret language!

Sorry about the lack of clarity folks.

"Carl" indeed refers to the forum's "Carl Spock" gag.

"Clean" refers to the nickname (apparently) given to Hendrix by other musicians of the time in regards to his fluid and articulate guitar technique.

Once again, sorry guys. :)
