Classic Who On Itunes!

From OG News Page

Just a couple of weeks following the release of complete seasons of new series Doctor Who on iTunes, a selection of classic Doctor Who adventures are now available on the download service as well.

While most of the titles released so far have already been made available on DVD, such as "Carnival of Monsters", "Mark of the Rani" and "The Ark in Space", a number of stories have been released that are avaiable nowhere else (with the VHS releases now long out-of-print), like "The Krotons", "The Sun Makers" and "Planet of the Spiders".

The stories are avaiable episodically, and cost $1.99 per episode.
(emphasis mine).

Wow, that's awesome news!

I'm personally not interested because I intend to own all of the serials on DVD eventually, but this is excellent news for incoming viewers who wouldn't otherwise get the chance to check out some of the serials that aren't available on DVD yet and aren't being played on TV (at least for most of the US).

I wonder if this is a backdoor way of doing "coming soon" promotions for the DVD's...eg. could The Krotons, The Sun Makers," and "Planet of the Spiders" be coming to DVD sometime next year?

Hmm, I'm not all that in the know about iTunes so please could someone tell me if it's possible for someone in the UK to buy from the US iTunes?

Thanks.

What kind of copy protection is on them? Can you burn them to dvd?
As far as I know, you can, but only as back ups you won't be able to watch them.
The copy protection on them means you'll only be able to watch them on any of your authorised PCs, Apple TV, or iPods.

I'm on iTunes now. The following stories are available:

The Invisible Enemy
Carnival of Monsters
Mark of the Rani
The Sun Makers
The Time Monster
The Hand of Fear
Planet of the Spiders
Underworld
Spearhead From Space
The Krotons
Terror of the Autons
The Three Doctors
The Ark in Space
The Time Warrior
The Claws of Axos
The Green Death
The Mutants
The Sontaran Experiment

New Series (Seas 1-3)
Torchwood (Seas 1-2)

Do a search for Doctor Who on the iTunes search engine. There's an incredble selection of assorted podcasts, books, albums, fan audios, and more that pops up-- much of it free.

Wow, so a bunch of serials that aren't on DVD are available: Mark of the Rani, The Sun Makers, The Time Monster, Underworlds, The Krotons, and The Mutants.

NO! My money! :(

This is fantastic news. It'll be nice to have a Troughton story in some form this year, especially one that almost certainly won't be on DVD until 2010, since everyone and their uncle knows that we're getting The War Games next year. (It's been the worst-kept secret of the entire DVD range over on OG.)
