Re: Chuck - 4x01 - Chuck vs. The Anniversary - Discuss/Grade <SPOILERS

Wow, this show is getting fairly random. What was that, an infomercial for sexting? :D Chuck seems very serious and lacking in his usual goofiness, which threw me off till I remembered that he thinks he's dying and is hiding it from Sarah.

Where's Jeffster? There will be an excuse for working them back into the story, right? Just not the same without them.
how about some Ron Perlman as a former flame?
Sons of Anarchy crossover? Ma Bartowski rode with a biker gang in her wild youth....

Unless NBC crashes and burns again this year, this will probably be Chuck's final season. Checking in with the ratings, they seem pretty steady from where they left off, at a low level that would merit renewal only if NBC's overall lineup shows no improvement.

No, that situation was resolved when the effects of the Intersect 2.0 on his brain were exposed to Sarah during a Ring-orchestrated review before the National Security Council, and the problem with the Intersect was resolved when they acquired the Governor device from Shaw.

Aw, I thought he was still dying/doomed to go crazy. Now that I think about it, there were a few episodes last season I missed, so that's when it that plotline must have concluded (in what sounds like a frustratingly underdramatized way - so maybe it's a good thing I missed that). Too bad if they pulled the plug on that plotline because given the likelihood that this is Chuck's last season, why not use the notion that Chuck might die at the end of the year to up the dramatic stakes? Zach Levi probably has the acting talent to convincingly pull off a performance of a guy going slowly insane.

Yes. That is why they showed the box with the three watches when Chuck was getting out of bed. They were all Intersect Neural Governors. The specs for which were likely stored in the base under his childhood home. He made himself a few spares in the months following last season's finale and before this premiere. Because we know that a lot of time had passed if only because Morgan's thumbs were healed up at the beginning of the episode. Aside from the fact that they also stated it in dialogue.

I do think Chuck should also be using his dad's official Orion forearm mounted universal digital interface though. I would have thought it particularly handy in his Mommy search.

Uh... no.

Do yourself a favor. Click the link in my sig. It will take you to the Chuck page on Hulu. Watch the last two episodes of season three there for free. It will explain it. And it was quite well dramatized, thank you. The comment threads showed a high ratio of "Awesome!" ratings. And Ellie has never been better than she was in those episodes. Go. Watch. Enjoy. Then you will have a better informed opinion.

But Ron Perleman's character on Sons of Anarchy would be so much more fun and fitting for this show. :rommie:

Just watched the episode and thought it was great...was it just me or was the final place Chuck went for an interview called "Vandalay Industries"? If so it was a nice shout out to "Seinfeld" and I laughed. The story line with Chuck searching for his mom kind of reminds me of "Alias" and Sydney's arc with her mom.
