Now on the day she was born
the workers all gathered 'round
to gaze in wide wonder
at the horror they'd found.

The foreman spoke up
said, "Leave this one alone!"
'cause he could tell right away
she was Bad To The Bone.

CHRISTINE

The 1983 adaptation of a Stephen King novel directed by John Carpenter and featuring a young Alexandra Paul. It's the story of Arnie Cunningham, a loser whose life is transformed after he buys an old junker with supernatural properties named Christine. Christine was played ably by a 1958 Plymouth Fury with a custom paint job (apparently the original model Fury didn't come in red).

My Dad had a similar car--a 1960 Dodge Matador. No--not AMC.

He welded the back doors shut and cut away the cab behind the driver's seat--turning it into an el Camino car-truck--with the fins as truck sides.

The neighborhood kids called it the Batmobile.

That was back in the 1970's--I had no camera.

An el Camino with fins?

Your father officially pimped his ride. I salute him.

This was one of my childhood favorites. My parents showed it to me because I guess they didn't care about the gore (not that there's much there by today's standards).
