Chris Nolan is not god-SCROOGE MCDUCK did INCEPTION first!

I love Inception but I don't know of people who claim that Christopher Nolan invented a lot of the techniques in the film. He did a hell of a job with it though.

Scrooge McDuck invented it though? Seriously? People have been telling stories for a very, very, very long time now. The majority of things in print or on film are just rehashed stories from years past. The key nowadays is making something fresh and interesting for people, which is what Inception was.

Just found this article the other day and loved it!

Check it out. It'a a point by point showing how INCEPTION was done as a plot by the Beagle Boys to rob Scrooge long before the movie.

Mutara Nebula 1967 your link was to an article from this week.
I posted about this idea and source about the news when it made the rounds back in August 2010 on this forum:
dream manipulation- "Inception" & "Scrooge McDuck"
It has a link to a great graphic that looks just like a scene out of the movie.
See the discussion.

Okay, great. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out!

I knew about the ping pong balls (Arthur Clarke used a similar technique in his raise-the-titanic book) and the general Disney influence on manga, and the Raiders influence is interesting but not surprising

I hated Inception, so it's nice to know who to blame.

The fact that Donald created a real chemical compound by accident is particularly disturbing.

There's an old Dennis Quaid movie from the 80s called Dreamscape about people entering and manipulating dreams - check it out.

Interesting. I used to read Scrooge McDuck comics when I was a kid back in the late 50's and 60's and loved them. All my friends were into Superman, Batman, and just starting into the Marvel universe and I was too, so Donald Duck comics were a guilty pleasure for me. Had no idea how "important" they were.

On another note, further proof that there truly is nothing new under the sun.

Disney comics are awesome, I knew it. I read Lustiges Taschenbuch (german for funny pocketbook, 200 pages of Disney comics for a few bucks) all the time as a kid, the book has been published constantly since 1967 and more than 400 regular volumes are available plus tons of specials (mostly reprints of stories that fit a specific theme) and the Duck edition which has no Mickey Mouse comics because they're not as popular.

The LTBs are so popular that the publisher was pretty much forced to release them at an ever increasing pace, I think they started out at one book every three months, now they've reached one book every four weeks which allows them to squeeze a 13th (and sometimes 14th) volume into a year. All new volumes have an initial run of 250.000 books and all old volumes are constantly reprinted and available, it's crazy.

I wish other comics were released at that pace and price, imagine a world with a monthly 200 page marvel book for 5 bucks. :luvlove: The only reason I refuse to read Marvel/DC is because the prices are ridiculous.

Why would anyone even suggest that Christopher Nolan was God in the first place?

Come on, guys. He's good, but he's no Christopher Nolan.

Welcome to, what, a year or two ago?

Anyway, I have that comic and while there are similarities there are differences too.

Haters gonna hate. People still read cracked?

WTF is it with this "Haters gonna hate" shyte?

a) why are you a "hater" when you find similarities between two works?
b) why don't you just say: I have a different opinion.

Lol, I do have a different opinion. It's just obvious that the writer had his own opinion and wanted to take Nolan down a peg. I'd like to see him accomplish Inception, The Prestige or Batman.

It's when Nolan puts himself up there with the Matrix guys that gets people like me mad when I pitched a similar idea out there in Hollywood in the eary 00's. Now high tech thievery? He can take credit for that, certainly.

Why would Nolan want to put himself on the same level as the "Matrix guys"? He's a MUCH better filmmaker than they are. Certainly he can make a sequel that isn't the sux.

Inception was inspired by Paprika:
