Children names

We have a child do in December and we are trying to come up with names. I want to name him from my favorite character from a book and it made me wonder if anyone else has done this. So I guess the question is, had anyone named their child based on a character from a book, movie, tv show or even an actor?

I have a friend who gave his daughter the middle name of Ilia after the character in ST:TMP.

a friend's brother named his son Luke. I always liked the name James if I ever had a son as it relates to both Bond and Kirk whilst not being remotely as obvious as something like Jean Luc! Plus I've recently discovered it was the name of one of my Grandfathers.

I ended up being the one to choose a name for my nephew. I came up with Harrison. She was thinking of naming him "Mathew Jackson"--as in two first names, and one last name. I looked at her, and said, "Um--why not something more classy, or old-fashioned."

So, she said, "You pick something."

I told my sister it was after the president, but I think we both knew it was really after the actor.

I have an old friend from high school who managed to get his wife to agree to name their daughter Miriya, after the Robotech character. Don't know how he did it, but good for him.

Hermione isn't traditionally considered to be a boy's name, you know. ;)

It's probably just me, but it seems the height of tacky to name a child after a fictional character.

As a writer, I can empathize with J.K. Rowling's attempts to find a name that didn't once appear in any of her books.

we named our son John Peter
After John Lennon and Peter Doherty
He was due on John Lennons birthday (9th October) but the little angel was three days late but we love him anyway.

Truly funny! Wasn't the character I was thinking of.

No kids here, but I met a girl named "Lessa." Her mom was a "Dragonriders of Pern" fan.

And I knew a guy in school (years ago, obviously) who was named "Monty"--I thought for Scotty. Nope, for "Monty Montana," whom his Mom evidently had had a childhood crush on.

Oh, and if Hubby and I had had a kid, a son, he wanted "Sean Daigoro"--for Sean Connery ("The only James Bond") and the kid from "Lone Wolf an Cub." Hubby was born in Mexico and has a Spanish surname. So a Scottish name, a Japanese name, then a Spanish last name?

It might've worked. Hubby's always being mistaken for being Japanese since he was a kid, even though he's now 6'1" and 220 lbs.

I've always liked the name Zooey, after Zooey Deschanel
but maybe I'd spell it Zoey to try and lessen the inevitable mispronounciations :D

why don't you try Zoe, the REAL way?

hada woman in work today with her daughter who was named Kira after Nerys. apparently that was her husband's doing. :D she put her foot down at naming the second daughter Deanna she told me...

Asking for children's names on here is a big mistake. Some people (and you know who they are) will suggest Xbox, Roddenberry, Asian, Christopher Nolan, etc.

Actually if it was a girl, her name was going to be Keira. We both love the name. I wanted to spell it Kira, but the wife wanted Keira. She's not a Star Trek fan at all but she love the name Keira.
