My 8-year-old son is determined to be Captain Archer for Halloween, which is great except that I cannot seem to find a kid’s costume anywhere, preferably one that doesn’t break the bank. Can anyone point me in a direction, please? I’ve looked at Amazon, a few Halloween stores, and a Star Trek costume company without success. Thank you
Perhaps search "navy boiler suit" and then you just need to add yellow trim, pips and shoulder patch? Sadly, I don't think Enterprise was popular enough that cosplay stuff was merchandised like it is with TOS, the recent movies or Discovery.
Back when the show was on, I had a dressmaker's pattern for the same basic jumpsuit. If you sew or know someone who does, another option might be to go to a fabric store and see if you can find a similar jumpsuit pattern, make it in the right color blue in your son's size, then add the ENT-specific detailing-- yellow piping, zippers, patch. Would presumably cost less than the ENT adult-size jumpsuits offered on eBay. Good on your son for loving Captain Archer! Good luck!
I don't know if it is allowed to link here but they have the best tutorials and sewing patterns for Trek: http://www.badwolfcostumes.com/p/sewing-patterns.html
You can buy a Dickie's brand jumpsuit in blue or navy blue for very inexpensive, but you will need modify the collar and add the striping. If you or anyone you know has the skill, it wouldn't be too difficult to add the zipper pockets, but it's probably not a big deal if you've done the other things.
