Charlie Brooker's Dead Set

Charlie Brooker is writing a six-part horror series for E4.

The journalist and broadcaster said the show, with the working title Dead Set, would be a genuine thriller and "could not be described as a comedy".

"Dead Set is very different to anything I've done before, and I hope the end result will surprise, entertain and appal people in equal measure," Brooker told MediaGuardian.

"I couldn't really describe what it is but it will probably surprise people." He said the cast would be a "mixture of known and less well-known faces".

Brooker's only scripted TV experience is as co-writer of comedy series Nathan Barley, with Chris Morris.

Knowing Charlie Brooker this show will be well worth catching when it comes out. Even though it isn't comedy, I'm sure with his sense of humour it'll at least be fun.

This is awesome news, can't wait for it. I'll happily watch anything Charlie Brooker writes (or appears in). His sense of humour has always had a very dark edge to it, so I can see him easily translating that into a more dramatic setting.

BTW, is there any word on when/if Screenwipe is coming back? I'm suffering from withdrawal.

I know, but maybe it'll give him a bit of time to come up with something better than retreading stuff like he did last series, and at least in the meantime there's his Guardian columns to keep us entertained.

^ True. I imagine, though, that this new project (plus the Guardian columns) is part of the reason we haven't seen a new series of Screenwipe yet. I'm betting those two are taking up a considerable amount of his time.

Anyone know when it actually starts?
I keep seeing ads that just say "coming soon"
Well thats no fucking help is it? Coming soon could be mean anything from next week to next year
I've heard Halloween, but not seen it verified, the closest is "End of October."

Looks like it starts on Monday 27th at 10pm

This might be considers spoilers, it's the synopsis from Radio Times.

Looks like it. His character is Joplin.

Joplin

This "pompous bore" is the most hated housemate with the viewing public. Has a speech for every occasion, no matter how trivial the subject matter. His surreptitious ogling of the women, particularly Veronica, has earned him the nickname 'Gollum'.
