Chancellor Worf?

Captain59

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Greetings! Wasn’t Worf chancellor immediately after killing Gowron? Even if for only one minute, shouldn’t he still be listed on the list of Klingon chancellors? Thanks.

Yea the Klingons aren't as meticulous as we would be about that.

Cheney and Bush were both 'Acting' Presidents for a while, and there was Reagan's guy who was teased for being a tryhard with his words; and that's recorded - so much that you could probably get every minute of their 'administrations', but the Klingons wouldn't care.

In the DS9 documentary new episode story pitch,
Martok intends Worf to succeed him as Chancellor

Al Haig, who was Secretary of State when Reagan was seriously injured and Vice President Bush was out of town.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you get to be on the list of Chancellors if your "reign" was like 15 seconds before you hand it over to another dude.

The Klingons would probably brush it under the carpet. Apart from Martok no other Klingons seem to like Worf, they tolerate him at best.

If Worf became Chancellor I don't think he would last very long. He was never very adept at the backstabbing atmosphere of Klingon politics, where honor was just a catchphrase and not reality. He would probably be very quickly killed, even if the killer has to resort to dishonorable methods to do so, like how Duras killed K'Mpec by poisoning the bloodwine.

The problem with Worf was that he believed in the concept of Klingon honor as a reality, when we've seen many times that the actual Klingons themselves long since realized it was just an excuse to justify doing things the way they want. The way dictators play up nationalism and patriotism to bolster their own power.

For many Klingons the appearance of being honorable is more important than actually being honorable.

Most Klingons are fickle, Gowron forgave Worf twice i think before Worf killed him, and Kor liked Worf too, and as Ezri said to Worf those up top had committed many wrongdoings and used honor as an excuse, and that he was the most honorable Klingon she knew

Maybe it goes deeper than that.

Other Klingons knew of Worf and his reputation. It's very likely that they didn't like him because he truly was being the embodiment of what they espouse... honorable. And they resented him for it because they couldn't be that way or live up to his example.

It's ironic that being raised by humans, he ended up being a better Klingon than most we've ever seen.

I agree it is quite ironic

Oh, I dunno. I rather think Worf is an unusually good politician. He figured out why his father was being scapegoated and then accepted discommendation for the good of the Empire to avoid a civil war, he ensured that his preferred successor nominee became Chancellor after K'Mpec died, he then played a decisive role in mobilizing sufficient forces to end the Klingon Civil War on the side of the House of Gowron, he installed the first Emperor in 300 years, and then he overthrew Gowron and installed Martok. I think that's a pretty decent political record, all things considered.

True, but I think Worf has long since wisened up about corruption in the Empire. He's well aware of how many dishonorable politicians there are.

Like Ben said in "The Maquis:" It's easy to be a saint when you live in Paradise. Holds true for honorable warriors, too.
