CGI TMP Rec Deck interior

Captain

Lieutenant Junior Grade

Howdy!

About a year ago I ran across a website that had a deck by deck breakdown of the TMP Enterprise. Part of that breakdown featured a fantastic CGI shot of the Rec Deck. It was from the "stage" area facing towards the windows.

I've been trying to find that picture again..and who did it...ever since. Anybody here responsible for it, or know where I might find it again?

Thanks.

Wow!
Great site! Thanks!!

Looks like I havent been a member long enough to use the PM feature yet!! I would like to see those pictures though???

Those are the exact pictures I was talking about (well the one was). The rest are equally amazing.
Thanks a lot sir!
Greatly appreciated!!!

Some nice work there. The aztecking is a little heavy and the engines feel a -tad- bit undersized, but other than that, it looks dead-on.

I'm a bit confused... I didn't see a "TMP Rec Deck" among the various setpieces our Japanese friend has created. Did I overlook it?

By the way... what kind of a MONSTER machine must this guy be running??? GOOD LORD, the complexity of his work there would bring my new machine to its knees... :wtf:

Oh my f*cking god. Those renders are amazing!
It's worth pointing out that the Rec Deck set model is pretty exact, per what was seen on-screen... which means that it does NOT fit inside the model. (The undercut on the underside of the primary hull would actually rise well into the volume of the set, as-built.)

What was done for those renders was the creation of a "set" and the incorporation of external views taken from Erik Peterson's Enterprise model... but the "set" doesn't fit inside the model.

No, to get the Rec Deck to fit inside the model, you either need to accept that the Enterprise is a TARDIS, or you need to revise the set design (and treat it as a "filmmaking cheat").

Hmm. Perhaps it's time to make a model-correct version of the rec deck then. Hitme up with the proper blueprints and I'll probably have one in no time...

Well, there's no shortage of TMP-1701 prints available (most of which are pretty consistent... I still go with David Kimble's from TMP as the most authoritative, but your mileage may vary).

The trick is to rotate the actual exterior hull section around the p-hull axis to get the outside shape, offset the outer surfaces to get "minimal interior surfaces," and build things up from there.

Actually, if you think about it, this would make the TMP scene even more dramatic. Kirk would have been towering over his crew by nearly a full deck height, with the projection screen immediately behind him, while the whole crew watches Epsilon 9 get wiped out.

Andrew Probert did some interesting work on this... check out, in particular, a drawing about halfway down this page:

Hmmm yeah, those are some very nice designs. Those should make very nice models ^_^

They are under this link:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L9PBYLO3
you have to download them to see them...and they are worth it. I was looking for the pics of the rec deck, but this guy has some of the rear observation lounge too...and they are all amazing!

Those are really great images. It makes it seem like you're looking at the real McCoy (pardon the expression!)

The only thing I might consider changing would be the addition of the NX-01 to the panel of 'Enterprises' on the wall. I know, I know, it wasn't there in the movie and that would be retconning, but it would be cool nonetheless.

No way leave it out.
I'm quite happy with the fanon explanation that it and ST:AU are both Alternate Timelines...Preserve the timeline how it was not how ENT represents it.
