Cell phone help please.

I know that this should probably go in sci/ tech forum but...

I really need help, so the more poeple who read this, the better chance I have. Of course, if the mods mov it, I won't hold it against them.

I have T-mobile. I had to get a new cell phone. The last one died. I was eligible for the full discount on a new phone, but only if I signed a new 2 year contract. The new phone therefore has to last up to two years.

Please help. I don't know waht makes a good cell hpne. I got thestandard free (or 10 dollar) flip phone and they said that I could exchange it for another one within like 14 days. tomorrow is my last day to option out of this phone and get something else.

What's the phone that you would recommend? What's everyone using. What should I look for? A phone with a keyboard?

Please help. I have to go back.. tomorrow is my last day. Thanks

If you like to text, get something with a full keyboard. It will blow your mind. If you're just using it to make the occasional call, go with something cheap and sturdy.

Agreed Starbreaker. those are very popular a good size(not to big or small) and relatively sturdy. Try to get one that opens as a book if you can TULN. My next phone will be something like that. There are even some that have the slide and flip mechanisms both incorporated into their designs.

Why did you wait tillthe last day??? You need to research these things man. You have to walk around with this thing for 2 years. It will be your constant companion, its a decision not lightly made.:p

That said go to youtube and type in the phone models that tmobile sells. There are bound to be dozens of comments on each one. I did this with my latest phone. Good thing Im due up in a month and a half, its starting to get pretty rough now. I dropped it in some water and had to take it apart to get it to work again. Its working but I need something slightly bigger.

Heres tmobiles curent phones.http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/

Check them out on youtube or maybe amazon to see how people like them. Also type inquires on google for reviews on phones you are interested in. There are some tech sites that most likely has reviews of many of them. Take a good two or three hours to decide. Its actually kind of fun to look online and do the research. Also make sure they have good battery life over any other option the phone comes with.

edit. Not all those phones may be available at Tmobile stores or are offered as a free phone. But I bet several of them are.

A Blackberry that's not a Storm. Of all the ones on that T-Mobile page I'd take the 8900.

wow. thanks for the advice. I'm gonna look at that page, butI'll keep checking back.

Dar70, why did I wait till the last minute? LOL because it's my nature! yeah thats a good excuse. Part of it is that phones are not altogether fascinating to me. I just want a decent phone, but I'd rather fix dvd players or vcrs or collect figures. LOL

I'll be checking back here often. Thanks to all those who have helped and will help!

Let us know what you utimately choose. Your thread prompted me to start researching AT&T's phones right now. They mosty have Smasung phones. Which I have now. Theres a couple of nice prospects. I can get a new one in Nov. I may even change service providers. After breaking my phone I discovered AT&T has no tech services in my area. So I took it apart myself and luckily fixed it. This was a problem I never had with Verizon. They usually fixed it for free if it wasnt that involved.(I usually dont get insurance which I should, but am too cheap.)

I'm in the same boat. I'm with T-Mobile and have been out of contract for a while. I broke my Moto Razr V3 a while back and have been using my original one.

I decided to just flat out buy the new phone, not sticking to what is on the T-Mobile "list", so as to avoid a new contract.
Like the others said, decide what you want to do with the phone, and how much you want to spend.

I had another Samsung which I lost a couple years ago, and liked it a little better than the Moto. The Samsung seemed to have a stronger vibrate and a louder ring volume. But, I found most of the current Samsungs to be sliders, which I thought would not hold up as well since I keep it in my pocket. So I went with a newer model Moto, the Razr2 V9, which is a flip, and has other features I like to have, like USB connection (which a lot of them have now).

I ended up spending about $180 on this one, but saw many, more basic models of Moto & Samsung for around $50 on ebay.

Good choice. It seems like most people like it on youtube. I hope you got the Metallic Pumpkin.
