I always thought it was cool when they (rarely, but sometimes) have Starfleet ship names that aren't so Earth-centric.

I remember the Gorkon and perhaps another Vulcan name from TNG or DS9. It's not as often as you'd like though. I caught that name in the pilot, remembering it as the name mentioned in Spock's reeducation in TVH.

It is also the name of the Vulcan ship that landed on Earth in First Contact, though I think that information came from BTS info.

As an aside: every time I read this ship name, I hear it in Leonard Nimoy's voice (following by "Matron of Vulcan Philosophy").

I had a theory that these shots were not stills from the episodes, but pre-effects shots, because in the past we never really got things like ship-to-ship combat or phaser fire. But at least two of the pics clearly have VFX added, so it looks like either I was wrong, or they've changed how they are doing them.

The tribble is still on Lorca's desk.

It could be that Nimoy (nor anyone else on the production crew of TVH) remembered how to pronounce such Vulcan names, since this is inconsistent with that of T'Pau, T'Pring, etc...
