CBS - More Shows Axed and Saved

I just heard about this and there are some surprises in there.

Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that...

Moonlight is officially canceled

Hollywood Reporter, DHD and Ausiello all report that...

HIMYM, Old Christine, Rules of Engagement, and the Unit have all officially been renewed.

Bad News and a silly move by CBS...

Shark is canceled.

Some non CBS News...

ABC have cancelled Women's Murder Club

ABC tried to turn it into a non friday show and FAILED, they should of left it alone because it was doing decent work on friday nights.

Not really shocking. It was getting decent numbers after Two and a Half Men, and I don't think it was ever really in danger of being cut.

Had thought they said that one of HIMYM or Old Christine wasn't going to make it, though, so odd to see them both ok...

^ Many people thought CBS had one too many comedies, especially with them producing more but they could be making a 2nd comedy slot. I think its fair to safe CBS wil dump at least one show next year and the favourites will be...

HIMYM or BBT...however ABC has already been spotted circling either show should CBS axe them so I wouldn't worry about them yet even if CBS ever did cancel them before the producers/writers intended endings.

HIMYM is CBS's youngest skewing show. Even though it doesn't have the ratings of a "Two and a Half Men", it does well enough in the right demos that the pickup isn't really that much of a surprise to me.

HIMYM is one of the best shows on TV...a tremendous cast and stellar writers. Plus a production crew that makes the show a lot of fun. I misread the OP at first read and when I thought it had been axed, my heart sank just a little bit. Now it's doing a little Snoopy dance. :techman:

Yay, more Mamet goodness next year. I'm kind of annoyed that they didn't return this year, to be honest.

Too bad about Moonlight. I just started watching it.

The few episodes I've seen of it have actually been fairly funny, unusual for a comedy series these days. I'm glad to hear it's still around

I'm starting to feel sorry for Linda Park. All three of the major series she's been on have been canceled early on.

Shark is typical of CBS. Big hit one season, moved to another time slot, doesn't do so well, gotta cancel it then since no one ever watched it.

From rumors a big reason Shark is getting cancelled isn't solely its ratings but the behind the scenes problems they have with James Woods. Who is said to not be so keen on doing the show.

Whether thats true or not, I honestly don't know.

As to Moonlight (and will really depend on how low the Warner will go on the cost) on the CW, remember this is through an independent producer that i renting the night (Sunday). They always planned for an 18-49 year audience. The reason CW got rid of WWE contract is because they have to pay a lot for it, and don't get any ad revenue from the two hours (they get space allotment for in house ads. But with that not having a compatible audience (both in age and in gender, even more so then the typical 18-49 audience, it wasn't financial sound.
