CBS CGI wish list

They've gotta all be Connies, or it's a big F-U to 40 years of tech fandom. But slight variations in refit status would be okay. Like, the Hood could still be in 2nd pilot config, the Potemkin could look like the AMT model...

^ At least don't have them flying through space like they were a marching band in a parade.

BTW, who was the second person to vote in the poll that Mallory shouldn't die. I know how Mallory voted but who made the other vote? His dual? A stealth suck-up? A member of Red Shirts Anonymous?

Damn tribble lovers!

Well, they were in a good formation for traveling to the wargames (and to make sure they all get on screen at the same time :)). I always figgered they did a break in all direction as the games began.

^ That would be nice, it'd explane a lot of things without actualy explaneing things if you know what I mean ;)

If the Ultimate Computer hasn't been done yet I'd like to see the resused footage of Station K7 replaced with something like the Spacedock from Star Trek's 3-6 (also used in a couple of TNG eps as a Starbase). You see the ship approach, then a dissolve to the ship entering and docking and then cut to the transporter room a Commodore Wesley beaming over. When the opening credits end you could show the Enterprise sweeping away from the space dock similar to the shot of the Enterprise A at the end of Star Trek IV minus the jumping to warp effect.

^^^
That giant thing where starships docked inside the station? It's cool and all but, man, might seem a bit too 'off era'. But then again, if done well, could be damn coolio.

I don't know, with the right lighting, texturing and where they were present, markings it could look quite good. You could even get a glimpse of other starships docked inside such as those that would participate in the wargames under Wesley (a nice setup for that later sequence). Failing that you could (copyright notwithstanding) go for the Star Fleet HQ design from Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Tech Manual.

It'd be cool if they used a variant of the Vanguard station design too. I'd bet though they're more likely to use something based on the K-7 design if there's a station at all.

I'm very interested to see if they make any of the other four ships of a different class. Part of me would like to see it, but part of me hopes not just for the other complications it would bring up.

On the other hand, seeing some Franz Joseph type ships or even better a pre-refit Miranda (!) in orbit in 'Court Martial' would be pretty awesome and wouldn't conflict with any fanon.

:rommie:

Well, I'm all for connies meself for the Ultimate Computer. After all, it's the fleet. There are 12 like her, as Kirk said.

I'd be happy to see some variants, as suggested, but not here so much. I guess I still would rather they be "starship class" ships, but that's 'cause I'm an old foggie.

My CBS CGI wish list is that CGI never had been imposed. Forgive my speaking out for a battle lost, but it is not "remastered" anything, except possibly reimagined.

It is just plain wrong -- for all the reasons cited in other posts so many times.

I don't think it's "wrong". Just how much of a purist could one be? Come on... the reasons sited are often fine insights but they aren't everybody. And even they see some of the benefits (like kids today watching the show for the first time... and there are threads here to show that!).

Some eps are better than others. I think they have done some really stellar work, especially for a small HD project with little time or budget (this isn't a big studio production ya know). I think it's terrific stuff on the whole. :)

^^ I perhaps should not have posted at all. I'm glad CGI brings in a new audience. That is nothing but good.

As one who honors film and television history, I abhor what has been done. But that is not the subject of this thread, and I should not have intruded. My apologies.

Again, if it excites new interest from those who would otherwise never look at TOS -- great!

^^Well if it helps jayrath, just think of it as a new show. I still have the originals on DVD and to me they will always be that - the originals. TOS-R is a new and different take on it all. And no need to apologize for having an opinion, if you ask me.

And yeah, Plum I guess I should have said 'starship class.' Whoops. You Feds all look the same in the eyes of the Empire.

Kidding!!!

I too agree that the original is an historical artifact that should be honoured, as you say. Rather like colourizing old movies dishonoured the intent of the film makers.

I don't disagree with that, feel free to point it out! :)
