CBS All Access now available on Amazon

I can't get the audio to be 5.1 surround, but that's the case with anything on Amazon Video for some reason. Netflix plays surround perfectly, so it must be an app issue for me.

BUT, the 1080p picture quality is AMAZING. You can see so much crisper details and the space scenes are much less muddy and blurry. It almost felt like I was seeing some part of the space scenes for the first time since I could finally see what was happening. I'm ditching the CBS app for Discovery, but might go back to it for The Good Fight, where picture quality isn't a big deal.

Slightly off topic, but All Access worked great for me this past Sunday. Looks like they've done some upgrading as I noticed there is now a 10 second "back" button. Hope this lasts.

I noticed the other day that CBS All Access was available via Amazon Channels on Amazon Prime. I was actually going to post about it, but then I saw this thread. I tried it out and it looks and works just as well as anything else on Amazon Prime, so I'll be doing CBS All Access though Amazon Prime from here on out. The CBS All Access app has issues.

Now, if they could just add CBS All Access as an add-on on Hulu, they'd be stylin' and a profilin'.

Excellent news. I'm currently unsubscribed to CBS All Access, so when Discovery's season is done, I'll click the button on Amazon, binge the 2nd half the season, then unclick it. So far this show isn't good enough for me to pay for it monthly, but I'll pay a one time $10 to finish the season. Next season? Well, that's to be determined. LOL

For those who have switched to the CBS All Access Amazon channel do the new episodes drop at the same time (about 5:15pm Pacific Time) as the dedicated app?

I saw this too a while back. I like it because I currently have to use an old ROKU to run the CBS app to watch DISC on my 60" Samsung 4K TV. Once the series ends, I'm going to ditch CBSAllAccess anyways. When the new season drops in a year or so, I'll just get CBSAllAccess through Amazon (an existing app on the smart TV) and not have to deal with the slow, outdated ROKU. win-win!

Q2

Was really hoping they'd discount it like they do HBO, etc. How's the visual quality compared to the CBS app. It looks 4k-ish on my XBox, are they pushing the same stream quality?

Any more feedback on Amazon's CBS all access?
HGN2001, do you by any chance work for CBS All Access or are doing online promotions for CBS All Access? I only ask because you have the CBS All Access logo as your avatar, you mention CBS All Access in your status message and CBS All Access in your signature, you complain about "CBS All Access whiners" and apologize for people having difficulty all accessing CBS All Access, and are now bumping your dormant CBS All Access thread to ask for more feedback about CBS All Access. I'm no master detective like they have on one of CBS All Access' many fine crime dramas like Elementary or anything, but I'm sensing a CBS All Access related pattern here.

Nope. My former avatar was an NBC peacock.

I'm new to streaming and am curious about others' experiences, and whether the Amazon app is a better choice than my newish Roku.

Would you like me to change back to the NBC peacock?

How do you use this if already subscribed to CBSAA? When I use the amazon app it only gives me the option to subscribe to CBSAA for a trial period. I didn't see any login option for those already subscribed.

I noticed the same thing when I tried to use it. I just couldn't be arsed to call tech support to see if there was a work around they could guide me through. When I first started watching DSC, it was laptop only (HDMI cable over to the TV). Then I remembered I had an old ROKU in a box and hooked that up. The ROKU app for CBSAA allowed for using my existing log in. Then, Samsung FINALLY released a version of a CBSAA app for their 4K smart TV's (which also allowed log in with my existing account info). The Samsung app was faster and far superior to the old ROKU, so that went back into storage.

I cancelled my CBSAA account yesterday for the long break. Perhaps if you are doing the same, when Season 2 is about to be released, you can sign up through the Amazon app? That was my original plan until Samsung released the app for my TV. I was getting tired of having to have separate devices and extra cables just to watch DCS. Now it's just pushing buttons on one remote.
