Well, I'm sorry, boys, that you feel the need to shoot defenseless animals. I wouldn't mind a little jail time and a hefty fine for that bit of marksmanship.

Oh, yeah, like the cat being a stray would make it SOOOOOO much better. I hope those kids' parents don't bail them out of the punishment they ought to get for this; they have to learn that there are consequences for abusing animals. I would hope that in addition to any fines and jail time they have to do, that they are required to go to the shelter and spend a long, long, LONG time shoveling dog doo and cleaning litter boxes. They should get all the dirtiest jobs for a long time.

Exactly. So what if it was a stray? I see strays all the time, and my first inclination isn't to reach for the ammunition.
