I just got this via Gamefly. I was so pleasantly surprised that I decided to keep it.
This franchise has a 25 year history on the NES systems and MercurySteam and Kojima studios have decided to give it a reboot.
Gabriel Belmont is a Knight of the Brotherhood of Light, a mysterious group of Christian faithfuls who fancy themselves guardians of all things holy. When an evil spell separates the heavens from the Earth and dead spirits haunt the living, he is dispatched on a mission to restore God to the land. What follows is 15-20 hours of you slapping the living shit out of Vampires, Werewolves, Goblins, Trolls, Zombies, Ghouls and various other monsters from classic horror. This is a hack n' slash brawler ala God of War, but that's where the similarities end, IMHO. The fighting system and attacks are varied and numerous and the settings and enemies are so numerous that none of it feels repetitive. The graphics are breathtaking. Sometimes I just had to pause with awe.
This game is epic. If you haven't given it a shot, I highly recommend it. 8.5/10, IMHO
