Casting begins

When they do cast the villain, they should damn well announce the character's name rather than repeat the Cumberbatch Fiasco.

Are gorn names pronounceable? What use is there in a name if they went the District 9 way and named the gorn villain Christopher Johnson?

I keep seeing this comment on trek movie suggesting that the villain should be cast as a female. that would be interesting.

as u wish:

Ray Liotta would be cool as either a hero or villain. Michael Biehn? Rutger Hauer? Tim Dalton? HFord? (Starfleet head type guy cameo) Arnie? (Klingon villian) Stephen Collins? (Matt Decker), and of course shatner/stewart somehow (maybe spiner and some of the others too)

oh and Sean Bean as several have suggested already would be epic (some Starfleet military badass)

also be fun to see Michael Ironside sporting a Starfleet uniform (an admiral)

If they go the female villain route, it might turn out to be Dr. Janice Lester.

Khan, I think most of those you list they would deem to be "too old".

maybe they'll start the movie with the end of 'Turnabout' 2.0 then begin a new adventure (a nod to the tos episodes having happened between STID and ST3)

although I think Star Trek Continues already did that

A female villain is more likely to be like borg queen. To me however the only reason I liked the borg queen so much was because of her scenes with data in first contact and of-course Picard's history with the Borg.

a female villain in trek 3 that has no connection to the current characters or any sort of history with them of some sort will not be as awesome as the brog queen was . this is my personal opinion.

The Borg have no connection with the current characters at all right now though. Unless they make Carol Marcus the Queen after getting a bionic leg, and baby David Marcus becomes the first drone.

Not to sound skeptical, as Orci is known to post in the Trekmovie forums, but is the report of casting confirmed any place else? Seems odd for the first mention to be 775 posts into an August 12 story about the first draft being done. Why bury the report there, and why no follow-ups on it on any other sites (at least none I can find) since then? It's pretty big news to be buried in the comments of another story for three days. I'll wait for confirmation from another place, or from Anthony Pascale on his site.

All that said, I'm free for an audition any time after Labor Day, Bob.

I'm thinking you should spoiler code that. ;)
