Caretaker Abductions

At this point in Tom's development as a human being he would have made a bad father

This is the 24th century. Women buy their OWN flowers thank you very much.

Taking flowers from an arboretum would earn you time in the brig. It's like stealing from the ships stores. Theft from family is bad juju.

Deallocating "airspace" that should be dedicated towards food in the aeroponics bay is criminal against the survival instinct, unless those flowers also served some measurable quality towards the mission.

Replicator rationing. Giving someone flowers detracts on your calorie consumption and effects your health unless you are willing to eat Neelix's cooking to sidestep the rationing.

Yup.

Women can buy their own flowers, but this is Kathryn janeway we're talking about. She's a little dead inside in most of the places one needs to be a pretty pink princess.

If Mark was a joke, and not an alpha male, is it possible that she Gilliganed every sure thing to get home to avoid his touch?

Well, at least that would've explained the first 4 years.

Janeway does not want an Alpha male. She is the Alpha.

I can't believe how after all these years I still have to spell this out.

?

Every thing about Janeway screams "alpha submissive" to me

Mark, Chakotay, thingy from workforce, the weird Rochester bloke (Rochester is the alpha submissive females wet dream)

An alpha submissive is a woman who is strong, confident, intelligent and in control etc but who gets sexually aroused by the idea of relinquishing that control and submitting to another

Michael Sullivan is the best example of her tastes

Janeway : "make him more......provocative "

Okay, I am sold.

But. The men Janeway likes are all less Alpha than her, the definitely skew beta. I've always described her type as the "genial handyman".

Which is presumably why she never took any of those relationships much further. Not Alpha enough

She has some chemistry with Chak in the first couple of seasons but it seemed to fade as he revealed more beta qualities (in fact, isn't that roughly the time when she starts playing with Rochester)

Coincidence?

I also think she might have a soft spot for Tom (he's capable of being a bit of a rogue, a bit alpha but then he usually spoils it by being too goofy)

Huh, I just linked this vid in the Sexy thread.

Which is J/P.

Honestly I think if Beltran had lived up to the possibilities of the character the J/C would have worked. He just gradually disappeared into such mehness that there was nothing simmering on the back burner in the end. No fire. She had more pizzaz with every other crew member, he was just a prop.

I can totally see her with the real Rochester. And Seska is the mad wife in the attic.
