Zap2It (run by the Los Angeles Times) is reporting that longtime pro wrestler Captain Lou Albano has died at the age of 76.

Albano is best remembered for spearheading the resurgence of professional wrestling in the early 80s after appearing in a popular Cyndi Lauper video (though he'd been a wrestler since the early 50s). His trademark for a time was rubber bands attached to piercings on this cheeks.
He also did some acting as well. I remember he starred in a live-action Super Mario Brothers TV show some years back.
I've never been big into wrestling, but I always got a kick out of Albano, plus he was a connection to the older classic days of pro wrestling of the type my grandfather loved. Plus he was connected to the WWF back in the days when it was the WWF and legitimately appealed to adults and kids alike (before it turned into an NC-17 freak show).
