Captain Jack flashes his sonic screwdriver

I was looking at a news story about these two people complaining about CNN nearly getting them killed at Mumbai by showing where they were on tv during the attack. Right below it I see a picture of Captain Jack. The story is about his infamous reputation for whipping out Mr.Winky during interviews. Apparently Winky made an appearance again and people were all upset about it.

without seeing the webcam footage its hard to have an opinon on this, but John Barrowman really does need to keep it in his pants, as for any BBC wrong doing I suppose they could have cut the webcam feed, but if the Radio 1 webcam is anything like the Radio 2 one, I very much dobut you would have seen anything interesting on it.

Apparently, you could not see anything on the webcam feed.
then really I dont see the problem, infact I will go as far as to say "John Barrowman is free to take his penis out of his pants, whenever he is a) not in public b) not on camera."

oh & c) not around me.

I don't get where the complaint is either, unless people are complaining they didn't get to see his "fruit and nuts" as he put it.

From BBC News
"I was joining in the light-hearted and fun banter of the show and went too far," he said. "I was wrong to do this and it will never happen again."
The BBC has also apologised for the incident on Sunday's Switch show, which prompted one listener to complain.
"We do feel the programme overstepped the mark," it said, adding an apology was made at the end of the broadcast.
A spokeswoman also stressed that nothing untoward was screened online via the station's webcam.
Barrowman was chatting with hosts Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac when he was asked about his predilection for exposing himself during interviews.
He responded by saying he was going to "get it out", amid laughter.
Barrowman said later: "I didn't take the whole thing out, but I got my fruit and nuts out."

Storm in a teacup really, but given his family fanbase JB should have known better, and the Beeb is likely on hyper alert so soon after Ross/Brand

Yeah, you're right, but it's still stupid to make a deal out of it, I mean who had a clue about it until they suddenly put it in the news. The same with all the other "scandals" in the last few weeks.

Yes indeed. I didn't realise there was a webcam feed. My first thought was "Jeez, it comes to something when they make such a big deal out of someone getting his todger out on the radio." Not that I don't think he shouldn't have done it.

So this was on the radio, right? It's not as if the public audience could see that then, so I don't really see what the issue is.

And why is Barrowman apoligizing? Seems to me the interviewer brought this unto him, and he complied. If anyone should be apoligizing for any possible "offense" it's the interviewer.

I still think having him apoligise is an overreaction.
I dont know it still is not the kind of behaviour an employee of the BBC should encourage, im betting if I turned up to work and spent half my day wearing no underwear I would not get the same reaction Barrowman does.

This.

Especially when the host was egging him on.

Jeez, ONE person complained and the entire BBC goes nuts. They do wierder stuff on drive-time radio in the US all the time.

OTOH, we're the ones who get bent out of shape over 'wardrobe malfunctions'.

I can't even see what there is to complain about. I mean, you can't see it cos it's on radio, and even the webcam doesn't pick it up.

I fucking despair of the Points of View-loving public.

The BBC is petrified after the absurd public outcry over Andrew Sachs-gate. It's ridiculous really - "man gets cock out on BBC" might be a story, but on radio? I fail to see how anyone could be offended. Barrowman should have asked to go live on television to apologise, then introduced the nation to his little fella in front of a bemused Adrian Chiles on The One Show.

I wonder how many Google searches there are currently for "John Barrowman"+penis.

I think it's hilarious how the BBC keeps getting itself into hot water with its top properties. I just hope Barrowman doesn't get caught in some post-Sachsgate backlash. I was amazed that Len Goodman didn't get sent to Pergatory for a month for his encouragement of Christine Bleakly to take off her knickers on Strictly the other week, such is the over-reactionary-ness (okay, so that's not really a word) of this whole thing.
