Can we consider Google as artificial intelligence?

What ever you ask it, it will replay. And in 100% it will replay with information relevant to your question. You can ask it in simple form(one word) or you can ask it complicated questions(What is weight of Space Shuttle). You can do type mistake, it will correct you. In any case, what ever i do search on Google i have some feeling that i'm talking to something intelligent. Something that always provides me with relevant things of what i was initially reffering to. So, if we define it is composed of three major elements: 1.internet as hardware, 2.human built data base upon this hardware, 3.Google search machine to operate previous two, can we actually say that Google is first human built artificial intelligence?

First prove that you are not yourself an AI seeking to distract our attention. Your typographical errors are fooling no one.

I kid.

I think it's part way there although I would ascribe it as being intelligent if it could make inquiries itself, deduce new facts from those inquiries, and feedback this new information into new queries. However, what most AIs seem to lack is any emotional investment when dealing with the wider world.

Well, technically, it is "artificial", and it is "intelligent". But I really feel like the term "artificial intelligence" has become too associated in the minds of the general populace with artificial self-awareness for its use to be quite right here.

It's nothing more than a really (REALLY!) extensive database with a very clever search algorithm.
Exactly. Google is no more "intelligent" than Watson, the Jeopardy-playing computer.

Artificial it is without a doubt. But considering the usefulness of most search results I think we can answer the rest of the question in the negative

I agree on that. After all sci-fi movies where AI has casted, people are expecting too much. It might happend, when real AI shows up, that people will not recognize it.:borg::)

I just typed in "Good morning, Google. Are you an artificial intelligence?" and it returned some random blogs. So I'm going to go with "no." :D

Artificial stupidity maybe....

Sometimes it does both. Also, there's an old saying: "When I fall down the stairs, it's tragedy; when you fall down the stairs, it's comedy." Or something like that. :rommie:

I'm sure there are numerous variations, but the quote from Mel Brooks is: “Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.”
