Can anyone help with wireless range extender for a drone?

I purchased a tplink AC 750 based on watching a video as someone suggested that as an alternative for use with a DJI Tello.

My unit didn't have the instructions in the box so I'm going off what I saw online. I want to use the router as a range extender for my drone. It can see my Tello and connect but after that I can't log into the new extended connection when I log out.

technically speaking Part 15 devices are limited in range, scope, power and antenna gain.
having said all that, the easiest way to extend your wifi signal is going to be a parabolic reflector which works really good at microwave wavelengths your signal will be at.

and the easiest way to make that, unless you have an old dish network/direct tv dish, is a wok

seriously

understand though that the signal is no longer omnidirectional. while not entirely focused (there will be some lobes falling off on the sides. its not a perfect reflector) you may need to make sure it's pointed in the vague direction of your drone.

I have actually heard of this........

But it's a wifi drone and you need a cellphone to control it. I can log into the little router fine but it can't seem to get the extended network so trying on my tablet and if that works I'll try again on my phone.

The idea was to have that in the middle between the phone and drone and it's supposed to boost the limited wifi range of it. Drone is a DJI Tello

You should be able to do that yes. What I'm suggesting is if you are flying the drone through a wifi network, use the wok or dish etc, in conjunction with the router, not the drone

Oh ok........ But how do you connect the wok haha? I never thought I'd ever say that. I must go internetting and have a look online.

Anyway happy ending. I tried doing the setup with my tablet because 10 inch screen is a heck of a lot easier to use then a phone screen, setup the router and added the drone and now have an extended network... Logged into my phone and that also sees the extended network.... So once my batteries are charged for the drone I will do a field test.

happy flying. that sounds like a lot of fun

Thanks........ I edited my reply as you replied haha.

It's a fun little drone but around here every numpty has wifi and I think that's caused control issues with the drone because I go to a park right across my house and there are a row of houses on one side of the park, the drone always seems to suffer in the park. It's the only location here within walking distance as I can't drive.

I am hoping if and when I get my mavic mini that will perform a lot better.

I wonder if you could have a recessed cavity between each prop supporting drone “arm” that looks a bit like the front of the D-7’s manta. Whip antenna up top...smaller antennas off the arms

I did get the extender working but used my tablet instead of my phone then once the network was created logged in via the phone.

The tello has the antennas inside the rear arms holding the two rear motors. I don't think you could extend those as that wouldn't do much the longer wires wouldn't change much at those frequencies. But a D7 shell now that's a neat idea.

I was thinking of a concavity like the mantas front end with the propeller arm..hmm... maybe doubling as a feed horn now that I think of it—originally I thought the curved surface should be *between* the arms..,
