Can an endomorph have a flat stomach?

I'm wondering something. I used to weigh 103 kg (227lbs). Now I weigh 74kg (163 lbs). My upper body is to my liking. But I still have relative lot of fat around my stomach and hips. According to an article I read I shouldn't be going lower then 70kg (154 lbs), cause that would be bad for the health. But I wonder, is it possible as an endomorph to get a flat stomach? Or is it too unhealthy trying to reduce the "last" fat in your body? Or is it just impossible to get a flat stomach for an endomorph?

As a very bottom-heavy endomorph myself: it is possible, just very difficult. Keep building muscle and doing regular cardio and you'll get there eventually. Those last 10-15 lbs of fat are killer for me. I only managed it once and only kept it that way for about 2 months before it started to gather again (as soon as I stopped working out 5 days a week).

I agree. It's not easy but it's possible. Count calories, run a lot, and lift weights.

I don't think you should trust heavily on articles based on 'scientific' concepts from the late 19th century.

Classifying yourself as an 'Endomorph' is a step or two up from classifying yourself as a 'Capricorn'. Don't take it too seriously.

The personality types associated with the body types have been pretty much debunked, but the body types themselves are pretty solid, and used pretty widely throughout the fitness and nutrition 'industries'. While most people aren't a pure Xmorph, they usually tend toward one of the three. There are certain things associated with the types, like variety of exercise or food that is most effective, that are fairly solid and based in modern research.

You'll almost never see a really skinny guy with big hips and a wide frame, the same with a fat guy with a very small bone structure. The most athletic people all tend to share very similar qualities with each other: wide shoulders, narrow hips, build muscle and lose fat easily, etc. It is probably as simple as the genes that make a person stocky and wide being linked to the genes that make them gain weight easier, or build large muscles. Likewise a very skinny person will have genes linking his slight frame to a lack of muscle and a fast metabolism/less efficient digestive system.

I can stand next to two of my brothers and pretty much make the body type chart, so personally I think the types have a solid bit of fact to them.

While the psychological component of Sheldon's descriptions are obsolete, the fitness community still uses the physical descriptions.

To answer the original question, YES unless you have dropped a lot of weight and you have loose skin, you are more than likely to be able to get a flat stomach through proper diet and training. The articles above have some info on how to do it. Its just going to be a lot harder than for a mesomorph.

I did loose a reasonably big amount of weight (to my terms), 30kg (66 lbs). Although this is small fries to some of the weight other people have lost. But I don't have loose skin.
